In response to your letter from the month of Elul... I believe I have already written to you that it would be worthwhile for you to now begin with whatever awakening is possible on your part regarding increasing your share in the distribution of the Chicago Yeshiva Committee. It would be proper for you to inform me how much you received from them for the year 5708.

As above, it would also be good if you could encourage the administration of Yeshivas tzt"z Midrash Shmuel to do likewise. They should also report details about their activities: number of students, teachers, budgets, etc., if they have not yet done so.

Regarding what you wrote that it is not customary to read from the Torah on the Shabbat before a yahrzeit (and also regarding Kabbalat Shabbat in general), this is only to exclude those who are particular about this custom. But obviously there is no concern in this matter; at any rate it is no different than any regular Shabbat.

As a representative, I am sending you printed copies of "Kitzurim VeHe'aros LeTanya" from tzt"z with several additions. Please confirm receipt and try, if possible, to have an appreciation article about it published in a suitable newspaper—so that the wellsprings will spread outward.

Continuing on this topic: perhaps finally it will be possible to send here a copy of your father's z"l glosses on Tanya which I was told are in your possession. Certainly among them are explanations from elder Chassidim and similar material.

Rabbi B.S. Schneerson printed too brief an appreciation about tzt"z in the Beirut newspaper; perhaps it would be worthwhile for him to print a somewhat longer one at least in the journal Kol Torah, as Rabbi Baruch Sheyichyeh had promised previously.

One of Anash currently near Paris—Rabbi Shneur Zalman Taub—requests that you send him a pair of high-quality medium-sized Rashi tefillin. Please let me know if this is possible and their price.
