מיט גרויס צופרידנהייט וויל איך אייך מודיע זיין, אז דער ספר עץ החיים וואס איר און אייער פרוי יחיו האבן גענומען אויף זיך ביישטייערן די הוצאות פון זיין אפדרוקן, איז די טעג פארטיק געווארן פון דרוק. אן עקזעמפלאר איז בייגעלייגט.
שרייבט אונז וויפיל קאפיעס אייך צו שיקן.
וועגן דער גרויסקייט פון דעם זכות פון געבן טויזנטער און טויזנטער אידן די מעגליכקייט צו לערנען דעם ספר, וועלכער ענטהאלט די תורה פון אונזערע רביים מיט די אריינפיר בריוו פון רבי'ן כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א - בין איך זיכער, אז עס איז איבעריק צו ערקלערן אייך באריכות דא.
איך וויל נאר אנדייטן אויף איין רמז ודוגמא פון היינטיקער סדרה:
די סדרה דערציילט אונז די געשיכטע פון די מרגלים, ווי אזוי דורך זייער לשון הרע, האבן זיי געבראכט אומגליק אויף זיך און אויף דורות און דורות נאך זיי, ביז צו אונזער דור.
די עצה דערצו, זאגט אונז די גמרא (ערכין טו, ב) איז תורה, ווי עס שטייט: מרפא לשון עץ חיים, וואס "עץ חיים" מיינט מען דא די תורה.
די גרויסקייט פון דער שטראף פאר ריידן לשון הרע, וואס דאס הערן נאר די מענטשן וועלכע זיינען אין דער צייט און אין דעם ארט, גיט אונז א פארשטעלונג וועגן דעם גרויסן זכות און שכר וואס מ'האט פון ריידן תורה אין א בעשטימטן ארט און צייט. און דערפון קען מען זיך פארשטעלן ווי גרויס עס זיינען דער זכות און שכר פון אפדרוקן תורה, וואס דאמאלסט קען דער ספר, און די תורה וואס אין עם, דער-גרייכן אין אלע לענדער, און דער ספר בלייבט און ווערט געלערנט אויך צענדליקער און הונדערטער יארן נאכדעם ווי ער איז אפגעדרוקט געווארן.
איך פארענדיק מיט דעם וואונש, אז דער גרויסער זכות זאל אייך ביישטיין אין אלעס וואס איר דארפט, און איר זאלט אויך ווייטער נעמען אן אנטייל אין ענליכע זאכן, וועלכע שליסן אין זיך איין תורה מצוות ומעשים טובים.

With great satisfaction I wish to inform you that the sefer Etz Chaim, for which you and your wife have undertaken to contribute toward the printing expenses, has recently been completed at the press. A copy is enclosed. Please write to us how many copies you would like sent to you.
Regarding the greatness of the merit in giving thousands upon thousands of Jews the opportunity to learn this sefer—which contains the Torah of our Rebbeim along with an introductory letter from my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe shlita—I am certain that it is unnecessary to elaborate at length here.
I only wish to hint at one allusion and example from today's Torah portion: The portion tells us the story of the spies—how through their evil speech they brought misfortune upon themselves and upon generations after them, even until our own generation. The remedy for this, says the Gemara (Arachin 15b), is Torah, as it states: Marpeh lashon Etz Chaim ("A healing tongue is a tree of life"), where "Etz Chaim" here refers to Torah.
The severity of the punishment for speaking lashon hara—which is heard only by those present at that time and place—gives us an idea of how great is the merit and reward for speaking words of Torah in a specific place and time. From this we can imagine how much greater are the merit and reward for printing Torah; then, the sefer and its Torah can reach all countries, and the book remains and continues to be studied even decades or hundreds of years after it was printed.
I conclude with a blessing that this great merit should stand by you in all that you need, and that you should continue to participate in similar matters which include Torah, mitzvos, and good deeds.
Summary
Supporting Torah printing enables countless Jews to learn for generations. The Rebbe teaches that just as negative speech has lasting effects, so too does spreading Torah bring enduring merit—especially when made accessible through printed works.
