אתו הסליחה על אשר מכמה סיבות לא עניתי על מכ' ובתוכם גם מכ' כת"ר.
א) אתחיל בנתינת ת"ח על השתדלותו בענין הסרטיפיקט בשביל אמי מורתי תחי'.
והנה להשפיע כאן על ב"כ רוסיא אין לע"ע היכולת אבל אמרו פה, אשר אפשרי הדבר שכיון שדנים ע"ד אשה בת שבעים, יתנו לה רשיון היציאה. וכפי המצב שם כשמבקשים רשיון יציאה ויש רשיון כניסה למדינה אחרת יש לענין זה סכויים גדולים לטוב, משא"כ באופן אחר (מלבד זה שאז אין מביטים בעין לא טובה על מבקש הרשיון וד"ל). ולכן תקותי שבשים לב לזה שגם הרב הראשי הבטיח עזרתו בזה (ואולי יש מעלה גם בזה שכבר הי' לה סרטיפיקט) הרי בהשתדלותו הראוי' יעלה בידם לקבל סרטיפיקט בשבילה.
ב) נודעתי אשר זה כאיזה שנים מלפנים הי' בירות"ו תח"י מורה בת"ת חיי עולם ושמו יצחק אייזיק אייזן קובץ מכתבים מהר"א מקאלישק ובני דורו (ואולי גם אדה"ז).
ודבר גדול יעשה אם ימצא האיש וקובצו בידו, וישתדל שישלח את הקובץ לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א.
ג) זה מזמן שהנני מאסף מכ' ושיחות כ"ק אדנ"ע והו"ל זה לא כבר כרך א' מהם.
אולי נודע לו מי שנמצא תח"י מהנ"ל שלא נכנס בכרך זה, אנא להודיעני ואפנה אליו.

Please forgive me that for several reasons I have not replied to your letter, including your honored letter.
a) I will begin by expressing thanks for your efforts regarding the certificate for my mother. At present, it is not possible to influence the Russian representatives here; however, it was said here that since they are discussing a seventy-year-old woman, it is possible they will grant her an exit permit. Given the situation there, when one requests an exit permit and already has an entry permit to another country, there is a great chance for success—unlike other situations (besides the fact that in this way they do not look unfavorably upon the applicant; this is understood). Therefore, my hope is that considering also that the Chief Rabbi has promised his assistance (and perhaps there is also an advantage since she already had a certificate), with proper effort you will succeed in obtaining a certificate for her.
b) I have learned that some years ago in Beirut there was under your hand a teacher at Talmud Torah Chayei Olam named Yitzchak Eizik Eisen who possessed a collection of letters from Reb A. of Kalisk and his contemporaries (and perhaps also from the Alter Rebbe). It would be very significant if this person and his collection could be found, and if you could arrange for the collection to be sent to my father-in-law, the Rebbe shlita.
c) For some time I have been collecting letters and talks of my father-in-law Adoneinu Moreinu v'Rabbeinu (the Rebbe Rayatz), and recently volume one was published. If you know of anyone who possesses such material not included in this volume, please let me know so I can contact them.
I conclude with blessings for immediate teshuvah and immediate redemption.
