אלס איינע פון די עלטסטע שולען אין לאנד ובפרט אין באסטאן, וועלכע טראגט דעם נאמען ליובאוויטש, איז איבעריג צו באטאנען דעם גרויסן זכות צו האבען אט דעם נאמען פון דער שטאט ליובאוויטש פון וואנען עס איז נתפשט געווארען ביתר שאת וביתר עז דער ענין פון לימוד החסידות און הנהגה בדרכי החסידות זינט די צייט פון כ"ק אדמו"ר הצמח צדק און ווייטער, וואס דער נאמען ליובאוויטש אליין, ערוועקט א גאנצע שיטה אין לעבען.
און ווי מיין כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר האט דערציילט, אז דער נאמען ליובאוויטש (א קליין שטעטל אין ליטא) וועלכעס אין דער רוסישער שפראך באדייט דאס
אהבה - ליבשאפט - איז זיינער צייט געגעבען געווארען צוליב דעם וואס איינער פון די גרינדער פון דער שטעטל, פון די צדיקים נסתרים האט זיך אויסגעצייכענט אין זיין ליבשאפט צו מענשן בכלל און צו אלע באשעפעניש וואס השם יתברך האט באשאפען.
און דאס וואס חסידי חב"ד זיינען פארבונדען מיט דעם נאמען ליובאוויטש, אז דאס ניט קיין צופעליגקייט, און ווי כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר האט געזאגט אין נאמען פון דעם בעל שם טוב הקדוש, אז יעדער זאל וואס איז אין וועלט איז בהשגחה פרטית, און אזוי איז אויך אין דעם פאל וועלכעס באווייזט אויף דעם טיפען פארבונד פון חסידות מיט די דריי אהבות אהבת השם, אהבת התורה, ואהבת ישראל, וועלכע זיינען אומטיילבאר, און וועלכע דארפען מיטגיין אין דעם טאג טעגליכען לעבען פון יעדער אידען.
די דריי אויבענדערמאנטע אהבות, דריקען זיך אויס אין א געוויסער מאס, אין א שול, וואס אין א שול דאווענט מען און מען זאגט ואהבת את ה' אלקיך - אהבת השם - מען לייענט אין דער תורה, און מען מאכט א ברכה, אשר בחר בנו מכל עם, ונתן לו את תורתו - אהבת התורה - און אין שול ווערען דאך אויך געטאן ענינים פון צדקה, וועלכעס איז א אויסדרוק פון אהבת ישראל.
עס האט מיר באאומרוהיגט צו הערען פון הרה"ח הוו"ח אי"א נו"מ עוסק בצ"צ וכו' מוה"ר אלי' שי' סימפסאן, אז פילע מופען ארויס פון דעם געגענד וואו די שול געפינט זיך, און עס איז שווער צו האבען א מנין אלע טאג, און אפשר וואלט געווען ראטזאם אז די מעמבערס פון שול זאלען זיך צוזאמענריידען צו איינשטעלען א אפטייל פון דעם שול אין דעם נייעם געגענד וואוהין עס מופען אידען, און ביסלעכווייז וועלען זיי קענען איבערטראגען אלע טעטיגקייטן פון דער שול און ספעציעל די דרכי ומנהגי החסידים אין דעם נייעם געגענד, וואס אויך דארטען זאל דער נאמען ליובאוויטש דינען אלס וועג ווייזער פאר די אנדערע מתפללים ווי חסידישע אידען דארפען זיך פירען.

With satisfaction I received your greeting through Haraha"ch vavaha"ch iy"a nu"m ossek b'tzt"z b'emunah etc. Moreinu HaRav Eliyahu Simpson, and I have accepted your blessing and return my blessing to all those who pray and are members of the shul with their families for all their needs—children, life, and abundant sustenance.
As one of the oldest shuls in the country, especially in Boston, which bears the name Lubavitch, it is almost unnecessary to emphasize the great merit of carrying this name from the town of Lubavitch—from where the study of Chassidus and conduct according to Chassidic ways spread with increased strength since the time of my revered ancestor, Admor tzt"z and onward. The very name Lubavitch evokes an entire approach to life.
As my revered father-in-law Admor related: The name Lubavitch (a small town in Lithuania), which in Russian means love—'libshaft'—was given because one of its founders, a hidden tzaddik, was distinguished by his love for people in general and for all creatures created by Hashem Yisbarach.
The fact that Chabad Chassidim are connected with this name is not coincidental. As my revered father-in-law Admor said in the name of the Baal Shem Tov HaKadosh: Everything that exists in this world is by Divine Providence; so too here—it demonstrates the deep bond between Chassidus and the three loves: love of Hashem, love of Torah, and love of Israel—which are inseparable and must accompany every Jew's daily life.
The above-mentioned three loves are expressed particularly in a shul: In a shul we pray and say 'Ve'ahavta es Hashem Elokecha' (You shall love Hashem your G‑d)—love of Hashem; we read from the Torah and make a blessing 'Asher bachar banu mikol am v'nasan lanu es Toraso' (Who chose us from among all nations and gave us His Torah)—love of Torah; and also acts of charity are done there—an expression of love for Israel.
I was distressed to hear from Haraha"ch vavaha"ch iy"a nu"m ossek b'tzt"z etc. Moreinu HaRav Eliyahu Simpson that many are moving out from where the shul is located, making it difficult to have a minyan every day. Perhaps it would be advisable for members to meet together to establish a branch of this shul in the new neighborhood where Jews are moving. Gradually they will be able to transfer all activities—and especially Chassidic ways and customs—to this new area so that there too, the name Lubavitch will serve as a guidepost for other worshippers on how Chassidic Jews should conduct themselves.
I conclude with my blessing to all those who pray there—for material and spiritual good.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that carrying the name Lubavitch connects one deeply with Ahavas Hashem (love of G‑d), Ahavas HaTorah (love of Torah), and Ahavas Yisrael (love for fellow Jews). These three loves should guide daily Jewish life both individually and communally.
