בייגעלייגט איז דא א רשימה וואס איך האב גערעט פאר די תלמידים ווען זיי זיינען אריין פאריגען חנוכה צו מיר, וועלכע איז אבער א שייכות צו אלע אידען, ווארום די גאנצע ארבעט פון אידען איז, ווי עס שטייט, ואתם תהיו לי ממלכת כהנים וגוי קדוש, וואס יעדער איד דארף זיך רעכנען פאר א כהן, וואס זיין ענין איז צו ממשיך זיין קדושה הייליגקייט בא זיך און בפרט אין דער פאמיליע, און זייענדיג א חסיד האט איר אויך די הבטחה פון דעם אלטען רבי'ן, וועלכער האט געזאגט אז בזכות פון זיין מסירת נפש, איז ווען מען וועט טאן אין דעם ענין פון תורה ומצוות וועט מען זיכער מצליח זיין.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
It has been a long time since I have heard from you, and I am interested to know, firstly, how you are feeling health-wise and also your wife, may she live. I am also interested regarding what we discussed when you were here with me about the house and the neighbors, etc., as well as regarding the spiritual side—specifically about influencing the children in the spirit we spoke about.
I want to repeat my words here: as I heard from my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may his merit protect us), and as is clearly seen here with our own eyes—there is no doubt that when one speaks once, a second time, and more, eventually it will have an effect at least partially. Especially when speaking with children and in a peaceful manner—Divrei Chachamim Benachat Nishma'im ("The words of the wise are heard when spoken gently").
Enclosed is a note of what I spoke to the students who came to me last Chanukah. However, it is relevant to all Jews because the entire work of Jews is—as it says—Ve'atem Tihyu Li Mamlechet Kohanim V'Goy Kadosh ("And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation")—that every Jew must consider himself a Kohen whose purpose is to draw down holiness into himself and especially into his family. And being a chassid, you also have the assurance from the Alter Rebbe who said that in the merit of his self-sacrifice, when one acts in matters of Torah and mitzvos one will certainly succeed.
With blessings for all good for him and his household, may they live, and to hear good news in all the above.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that persistent and gentle guidance can positively influence children spiritually. Every Jew has a role like a Kohen—to bring holiness into themselves and their family—and sincere effort in Torah and mitzvos brings certain success.
