Shalom u'Vrachah!

The day of the nineteenth of Kislev is approaching, Tuesday (for the Torah portion "Es Achai Anochi Mevakesh" [Vayeshev]; Zohar I, 184a), a day that is doubled with goodness. It is the yahrzeit of Admor the Maggid of Mezritch—disciple and successor of Admor the Baal Shem Tov—whose teachings we drink from and whose light guides us. It is also the day of liberation for Admor Hazaken and the victory of Toras HaChassidus—the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov—through which Bnei Yisrael went out with an outstretched arm.

It is well known that the Baal Shem Tov asked Mashiach: "When will you come?" and Mashiach answered: "When your teachings will be spread outward and revealed in the world." This is a prelude and preparation for Mashiach's arrival.

With attention to the sacred duty upon every Jew—and especially upon Jewish leaders in general and chassidic leaders in particular—and their great merit to spread the wellsprings of Chassidus as handed down by our teacher, the Baal Shem Tov, then our teacher, the Maggid, and their disciples who became leaders among chassidim—I hereby propose to your honor that on this bright day, Yud-Tes Kislev (or also on Shabbos before or after), you organize gatherings and farbrengens for all those influenced by you. In these gatherings they should especially be inspired to work on spreading these wellsprings—the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov, his disciples, and their disciples—outward; as well as generally establishing fixed times for Torah study, meticulous mitzvah observance, love for one's fellow Jew, and refining one's character traits according to Toras HaChassidus.

May the merit of our leaders—Nesi'ei Yisrael—protect all of us to succeed in fulfilling our mission in this world. May our eyes behold the coming of Mashiach speedily in our days, very soon. Amen.
