המצווה הקל"ז
הציווי שנצטווינו לתקע בשופר בעשרה בתשרי של שנה זו ולהכריז בכל ארצנו על חרות לעבדים ויציאת כל עבד עברי לחפשי, בלי דמים, ביום זה, כלומר: עשרה בתשרי.
והוא אמרו יתעלה: "והעברת שופר תרועה בחדש השביעי בעשור לחדש ביום הכיפורים תעבירו שופר בכל ארצם" (ויקרא כה, ט).
ואמר: "וקראתם דרור בארץ לכל ישביה" (ויקרא כה, י).
וכבר נתבאר ש'שווה היובל לראש השנה לתקיעה ולברכות'.
וכבר נתבארו דיני תקיעות ראש השנה במסכת ראש השנה.
וידוע, שתקיעה זו ביובל אינה אלא לפרסום החרות, ושהיא חלק מן ההכרזה.
והוא אמרו: "וקראתם דרור בארץ".
ואין עניינה כעניין תקיעות ראש השנה, שהן "זכרון לפני ה'".
ואלה לשחרור העבדים כמו שביארנו.
The 137th Mitzvah
1. The commandment with which we were commanded to sound the shofar on the tenth of Tishrei of this year, and to proclaim throughout all our land freedom for the slaves and the release of every Hebrew slave to freedom, without payment, on this day—that is, the tenth of Tishrei.
2. This is as He, may He be exalted, said: "You shall sound the shofar blast in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, on Yom Kippur you shall sound the shofar throughout all your land" (Vayikra 25:9).
3. And He said: "You shall proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants" (Vayikra 25:10).
4. And it has already been explained that the Yovel is equal to Rosh Hashanah regarding the sounding of the shofar and the blessings.
5. And the laws of the shofar blasts of Rosh Hashanah have already been explained in Tractate Rosh Hashanah.
6. And it is known that this shofar blast in the Yovel is only for the publicizing of freedom, and that it is part of the proclamation.
7. And this is as it says: "You shall proclaim liberty throughout the land."
8. And its purpose is not like the shofar blasts of Rosh Hashanah, which are "a remembrance before G‑d."
