Kehot Publication Society

קה"ת

Kehot Publication Society (קה"ת) is the publishing arm of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. It was founded by the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, in 1942. The name "Kehot" is an acronym for Kehot Torah, referencing the verse "ואהבת לרעך כמוך" (Love your neighbor as yourself), a foundational principle of Chassidus.

  • Primary Focus: Kehot publishes a wide variety of Jewish texts, including Chassidic teachings, commentaries on Torah, Talmud, Jewish law (halacha), and educational materials. The works often focus on the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbes and Chassidic philosophy.

  • Major Works: Kehot is known for publishing the works of the Lubavitcher Rebbes, including the Tanya, Likutei Torah, and Sefer HaMaamarim. They also publish Siddurim (prayer books), Machzorim (holiday prayer books), and Haggadot with Chassidic commentary.

  • Languages: Many of Kehot's publications are available in Hebrew, Yiddish, English, French, Russian, and other languages, making Chabad teachings accessible to a global audience.

  • Significant Contributions: Kehot plays a central role in preserving and disseminating Chabad thought and the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, through their printed works and translations.

  • Educational Impact: Kehot’s publications are used in yeshivot (Jewish educational institutions) and by Chabad emissaries worldwide to spread Jewish knowledge, promote Torah study, and inspire spiritual growth.
