במענה על מכתבם מי"ג אייר, אשר נתקבל בהיום הבהיר הוד שבהוד הילולא דרשב"י פתח את צנור ההשפעה דהענין דועלי תשוקתו בשני הפירושים אשר על ידי הפתיחה שלו ביכולת ובכח כל אחד מישראל להגיע לזה (עיין הקדמת קונטרס ל"ג בעומר תש"י קונטרס ע"ח) וע"פ הידוע בשייכות דרשב"י אחי' השילוני הבעש"ט ורבנו הזקן ה"ז נוגע ביחוד לכאו"א מאתנו המקושרים לרבנו הזקן ע"י ממלאי מקומו הם נשיאי חב"ד לדורותיהם עד ועד בכלל דכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.
בו כותבים ע"ד השקו"ט שהיתה אצלם בהנוגע להנהלת צעירי אגו"ח אשר בירושלים ת"ו אשר הנהלה הקודמת אמר שקשה עלי' העבודה כו' וכו'.
ומובן אשר ע"פ הנ"ל בהענין דל"ג בעומר דענינו נמשך על כל השנה כולה וע"פ הודעת הבעש"ט בשם משיח צדקנו אשר ביאתו תלוי' לכשיפוצו מעינותיו חוצה, הנה פליאה גדולה אשר אותם שזכו לעמוד בהנהלת עבודה כזו יאמרו שקשה עליהם העבודה וכו' בה בשעה שזהו תכלית כל סדר ההשתלשלות ובריאת העולם כזה בפרט כמבואר בתניא פרק ל"ו. מובן שהחוב והזכות על כל אחד מהחברים לסייע לההנהלה בעבודתה ככל אפשריותם, אבל להשתמט מזכות גדול כזה מלהשתדל בזה בתוספת אומץ, לכאורה הוא נגד השכל. מובן שאין פירוש מכתבי זה להתערב בהנ"ל ואפילו לא בדרך הצעה, כי הרי כל עבודה כדי שתהי' כדבעי ובהידור צריכה להעשות בלב שמח ולא בדרך קבלת עול בלבד, אלא לעורר על פנימית עבודתם כמו שהנני רואה אותה שצריכה להיות ועל היחס שצריכה לעורר עבודה כזו. והשי"ת יברך ויצליח את כל חברי ההנהלה בעבר ובעתיד להוסיף אומץ בעבודתם בשמחה אשר זה גופא ימעט העלמות והסתרים וההצלחה תעלה מעלה מעלה.
בברכה להתקרב עכ"פ לאט לאט לפתיחת רבי שמעון בעל ההילולא דבחד קטירא אתקטר בי' בקוב"ה ובגין כך ועלי תשוקתו.

In response to your letter from the 13th of Iyar, which was received today on the bright day of Lag BaOmer—the radiant yahrzeit of Rashbi—he opened the channel of influence regarding "Aliy Teshuqato" in both interpretations. Through his opening, every Jew has the ability and power to reach this (see introduction to Kuntres Lag BaOmer 5710, Kuntres page 78). As is known regarding Rashbi's connection to Achiyah HaShiloni, the Baal Shem Tov, and our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe—this is especially relevant to each one of us who are connected to the Alter Rebbe through his successors: all the leaders of Chabad throughout the generations up to and including my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal.
You write about the debate that took place among you regarding the leadership of Tzeirei Agudas Chabad in Jerusalem—that the previous leadership said that the work was too difficult for them, etc. It is clear that based on what was said above about Lag BaOmer—whose influence extends throughout the entire year—and according to what the Baal Shem Tov conveyed in the name of Mashiach Tzidkeinu that his coming depends on "when your wellsprings will spread outward," it is astonishing that those who merited standing at the helm of such work would say that it is too difficult for them. Especially since this is the ultimate purpose of all creation and existence in general—as explained in Tanya chapter 36.
It is understood that every member has both an obligation and a privilege to assist the leadership in their work as much as possible. But to withdraw from such a great merit by not striving even more strongly seems illogical.
It is clear that my letter does not mean to interfere with your affairs or even offer suggestions; after all, any work must be done properly and beautifully—with a joyful heart—not merely as an obligation. Rather, my intent is to awaken you regarding your inner work as I see it should be, and about the attitude such work should inspire.
May Hashem bless and grant success to all members of the leadership—past and future—to increase their strength in their work with joy. This itself will lessen concealments and obstacles, and success will rise ever higher.
Blessings for at least gradually approaching Rashbi's opening on his yahrzeit—that "in one bond I am bound with Him (the Holy One), and therefore 'Aliy Teshuqato.'"
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that leading Chabad activities is both a privilege and a responsibility not to be shirked. Even when challenges arise, one should approach this holy work with joy and renewed strength—knowing its cosmic importance—and support fellow leaders wholeheartedly.
