I was pleased with the opportunity of your visit last week, and Rabbi Chadakov informed me about the developments regarding our research project on the collection of writings, discourses, and books of the Alter Rebbe.

I am confident that what our Sages say will be fulfilled for you: "He who begins a mitzvah is told to complete it," and you will bring this matter to a good conclusion in practice.

This is especially so since your name is significant—your honor is named after your grandfather, who was named after our master the Alter Rebbe. The greatness of the merit connected to this needs no elaboration for you.

According to your suggestion, I am enclosing herewith a letter to Mr. Shapira along with a list outlining our research plan.

As you will see, we have included in this plan—for its completeness—a research chapter on the history of the Alter Rebbe’s life and a bibliography of books and commentaries written on his works by subsequent Chabad leaders and his chassidim.

May it be G‑d’s will that you succeed in bringing this matter to actual fruition; and by Lag BaOmer (the yahrzeit of Rashbi), we have already made a good beginning toward fulfilling this lofty plan with G‑d’s help.
