בנועם הנני מאשר קבלת מכתבו מד' אייר עם המוסגר בו ההמחאות לכולל חב"ד באה"ק ת"ו שנשלחים ימים אלו למטרתם, ונהניתי גם מזריזותו דמר בשילוח הנ"ל מבלי לחכות על השאר.
ומה נפלאו דברי רבנו הזקן בנוגע לענין העקדה מאורע המשמש דוגמא וסמל לא רק לבני ישראל אלא גם לאו"ה ועמא דבר מפרש תוכן הענין שאב זקן מוסר לעקדה את בנו יחידו על פי ציוויו של הקב"ה. ובא רבנו הזקן ומעמיק לבאר שלא זהו פנימיות הדברים, ובלשונו הק' "העקדה עצמה אינה נחשבה כ"כ לנסיון גדול לערך מעלת אברהם אבינו ע"ה בשגם כי ה' דיבר בו קח נא את בנך כו' רק שא"א ע"ה עשה זאת בזריזות נפלאה להראות שמחתו וחפצו כו' וממנו למדו רז"ל לקיום כל המצות בכלל ובפרט מעשה הצדקה העולה על כולנה" (עיין אגרת הקדש סי' כ"א) ומזה מובנת מעלת הזריזות אשר עוד יותר גדולה רבה ונפלאה היא אפילו ממעלת העקדה, והאריכות לדכוותי' בודאי אך למותר.

With pleasure I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 4th of Iyar with its enclosed checks for Kollel Chabad in Eretz HaKodesh, may it be rebuilt and established, which are being sent these days for their intended purpose. I also appreciated your alacrity in sending them without waiting for the rest.
How wondrous are the words of our master the Alter Rebbe regarding the matter of the Akedah—a story that serves as an example and symbol not only for Bnei Yisrael but also for nations of the world. The common understanding is that an elderly father offers his only son for sacrifice at G‑d's command. Yet, the Alter Rebbe delves deeper and explains that this is not the inner essence; in his holy words: "The Akedah itself is not considered such a great test relative to Avraham Avinu's stature, especially since G‑d spoke to him: 'Take now your son,' etc. Rather, Avraham did this with wondrous zeal to show his joy and desire, etc., and from him our Sages learned about fulfilling all mitzvos in general and especially about tzedakah, which surpasses them all" (see Iggeres HaKodesh sec. 21).
From this we understand how much greater and more wondrous zeal is—even greater than the Akedah itself. Further elaboration for you is surely unnecessary.
