Havavach iy"a nu"n oseik b'tzt"z Moshe Doltsin

Shalom u'Vrachah!

I was pleased to receive regards from you through Haraha"ch iy"a nu"n oseik b'tzt"z Mordechai Dov, Rabbi Telishevsky, and although you did not write details about him, I wish to assume the positive—that a Jewish person must be healthy so that the body does not interfere with the service of the soul. This is even more so according to Chassidus, which requires that one serve G‑d with complete physical health; for this, the body must be whole. This is evident from Tanya at the beginning of chapter 7 and also see Rambam Hilchos Deos at the start of chapter 4.

Certainly it is unnecessary to urge you to help Rabbi Telishevsky in his work supporting the Tomchei Temimim yeshivas. As our Sages said: "Throw a stick into the air; it lands on its root," meaning that surely those bright days you experienced in Tomchei Temimim in Lubavitch continue to illuminate you. In the words of my revered teacher and master, Admor Maharash (of blessed memory), regarding students of Tomchei Temimim: "candles to illuminate," meaning they should also influence others and their surroundings.

I only needed to encourage and inspire you to help him even more—especially as this is what is required at this time. If regarding charity in general it is said that not only does it not diminish one's wealth but actually increases it—'tithe so that you may become wealthy'—how much more so when it comes to charity related to education, educating the younger generation so they will be fitting fruits and fruit of fruits according to our Torah of life.

Enclosed is a booklet about the continuation of the imprisonment of my revered father-in-law, Admor (of blessed memory), which will surely benefit many through your efforts; the merit of the many depends on you.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that supporting Torah education—especially through helping those who sustain yeshivas like Tomchei Temimim—not only benefits others but brings blessing and spiritual illumination to oneself and one's surroundings.
