המכ' והפ"נ נתקבלו. ובעמדנו בראש חדש ניסן, בו נאמר ועליו נאמר: החדש הזה לכם ראש חדשים ראשון הוא לכם לחדשי השנה,
אביע ברכתי לכל אחד ואחד מכם, אשר תוסיפו ותלכו מחיל אל חיל, בלימוד תורתנו הקדושה תורת חיים ובקיום מצותי' בהידור, ובהנהגה מתאימה לבני ישיבה, ועל אחת כמה וכמה - ישיבה המתנהלת ברוח חב"ד, על פי הקו שהתוו לה רבותינו נשיאינו, אשר צריך להיות מהלך בקדש, וכמבואר בתורת החסידות שאמיתית ענין הליכה היא כשישנו שינוי במהות, ז.א. לא רק הוספה בכמות התמדה ושקידה, אלא גם באיכות, אופן הלימוד. ונוסף על זה - מוכרח שגם על חברו ישפיע כל אחד בזה, כמצווה עלינו ואהבת לרעך כמוך. ובפרט אשר בישיבה חסידותית, וביחוד בישיבה מיסודם ובהנהלתם של רבותינו נשיאינו, נשיאי חב"ד, הנה כל התלמידים גוף אחד הם.
ובכל תפקידים אלו הובטחנו - לפום גמלא שיחנא.
וכמו שבאמירת משה לכל זקני ישראל, לכל ישראל - לאחרי שמעו דבר ה', החדש הזה לכם גו' - הקדים והתחיל:
משכו וקחו גו' הפסח - ופירשו חכמינו ז"ל: משכו ידיכם מעבודה זרה, וקחו לכם צאן ושחטו - לאלהיהם של מצרים, ועשו הפסח, שבכך הקב"ה פוסח עליכם,
כן גם אתם תתעוררו מראש חודש זה ולכל הימים וחדשי השנה הבאים אחריו, למשוך ידיכם, מעבודה שהיא זרה לכם, זרה לכל אחד מבני ישראל, כי עבודתו היא אך ורק, בלשון המשנה, אני נבראתי לשמש את קוני,
וקחו כו' ושחטו לאלהיהם של מצרים, של כל הסביבה, אשר מוגבלת היא ומדודה במצרים וגבולים של החומר והגשם.
ועשו הפסח, דילוג ולא עלי' מדרגא לדרגא, כי אם לאהפכא חשוכא לנהורא ומרירו למתקא, שתהפכו כל עניני הגוף והנה"ב, לאור וקדושה, ובכך הקב"ה פוסח עליכם, יחוס עליכם ויגן מכל דבר בלתי רצוי, ולראש ולראשונה - מכל הענינים המבלבלים את האדם מהליכה בדרך תורתנו תורת חיים, חיים בעולם הזה וחיים בעולם הבא.
וגדול זכות הנהגה האמורה, דמשכו ושחטו ועשו הפסח - להוסיף ברכה והצלחה גם - למשפחותיכם - ועניניהן, ולכל לראש - להוריכם ומוריכם שליט"א.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
To all the students of the evening yeshivot in Jerusalem, the holy city may it be rebuilt and established by our righteous Moshiach—may Hashem be upon them for endless peace and blessing!
Your letter and pan have been received. As we stand at Rosh Chodesh Nissan—about which it is said: HaChodesh HaZeh Lachem Rosh Chadashim Rishon Hu Lachem LeChodshei HaShanah ("This month shall be for you the head of months; it is the first for you of the months of the year")—I send my blessing to each one of you: that you continue to go from strength to strength in studying our holy Torah, a Torah of life, and in fulfilling its mitzvot with beauty, conducting yourselves as befits yeshiva students. All the more so in a yeshiva conducted in the spirit of Chabad according to the path set by our Rebbeim—the leaders—where progress in holiness is required. As explained in Chassidus: true progress means a change in essence—not just increasing diligence or effort quantitatively but also improving qualitatively in how one learns.
Additionally, each one must influence his friend in this as we are commanded: VeAhavta LeRei’acha Kamocha ("Love your fellow as yourself"). Especially in a chassidic yeshiva—and particularly one founded and led by our Rebbeim—the leaders of Chabad—all students are like one body. In all these tasks we have been assured: Lefum Gamla Shichna ("According to the camel is its load").
Just as Moshe said to all the elders and all Israel—after hearing G‑d’s word HaChodesh HaZeh Lachem ("This month shall be for you")—he began: Mishchu U’Kechu Lachem Tzon ("Draw forth and take lambs"). Our Sages explain: Mishchu Yedeichem MeAvodah Zarah ("Withdraw your hands from idolatry") and take sheep to slaughter—the gods of Egypt—and perform Pesach so that Hashem will pass over you. So too should you awaken from this Rosh Chodesh onward throughout the coming days and months: withdraw your hands from any work foreign to you or any Jew—for our service is only as stated in Mishnah: Ani Nivra’ati LeShamesh Et Koni ("I was created only to serve my Maker"). Take sheep and slaughter them—their gods—that is, all surroundings limited by Egypt’s material boundaries.
Perform Pesach—a leap not merely from level to level but transforming darkness into light and bitterness into sweetness; turn all bodily matters into light and holiness. In this way Hashem will pass over you—He will have mercy on you and protect you from anything undesirable—first and foremost from anything that distracts a person from following our Torah’s path—a path of life both in this world and the next.
The merit of this conduct—Mishchu U’Shachtu VeAsu HaPesach ("Withdraw...slaughter...perform Pesach")—is great; it brings additional blessing and success also to your families—in all their matters—and above all—to your parents and teachers may they live long.
