מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מד' שבט עם הפ"נ, שיקרא בעת רצון על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ותוכנו:
א) שאלה בהנוגע לפירות שביעית של נכרים, והשמוש בחשמל אשר באה"ק ת"ו.
כיון שבהאמור כבר שקלו וטרו בזה כו"כ באה"ק ת"ו ובפרט בשנים האחרונות, ועוד שההוראה בזה תלוי' בכמה פרטים, יברר בזה אצל גדולי ההוראה על המקום, איך הכריעו בהלכה למעשה.
ב) מקום קביעות מזוזה במרפסת הנמצאת בקומה שני' והכניסה אלי' רק מחדר הפנימי.
מסורה בידי חסידים, שההוראה מרבותינו נשיאינו גם בכגון דא, אשר הכניסה נחשבת היא לחדר לשם פותחים הדלת, ויש פתגם בזה מרבותינו, אשר כמדומה ששמעו הרה"ג וכו' מוהר"י לנדא שי' אשר במחנם הט' וישאלו נוסח המדוייק של פתגם זה.
לפלא גדול, אשר אינו מזכיר מאשר העלה בקדש בלימוד תורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות. ואף שתקותי ששליח עושה שליחותו, והרי כ"א שלוחו של מקום הוא (עיין לקו"ת ר"פ ויקרא א, ג), והשליחות הוא כדבר משנה לשמש את קונו ע"י התורה והמצוה, בכ"ז נפסק הדין ביו"ד בתחלתו שבמקום שיש לברר וכו'.

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 4th of Shevat with the pidyon nefesh, which will be read at an auspicious time at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal. Its content: (a) A question regarding Shemitah produce owned by non-Jews and the use of electricity in Eretz Yisrael. Since this matter has already been thoroughly discussed by many in Eretz Yisrael, especially in recent years, and since the ruling depends on various details, you should clarify this with leading halachic authorities locally to see how they have ruled in practice. (b) The placement of a mezuzah on a balcony located on the second floor where entry is only from an inner room. It is handed down among chassidim that our Rebbeim have ruled even in such cases that the entrance is considered to be to the room for which the door is opened. There is a saying from our Rebbeim about this; it seems that Rabbi Yehudah Landau heard it while among their group—ask him for the precise wording of this saying.
It is quite surprising that you do not mention what you have accomplished in advancing your studies in both revealed Torah and Chassidus. Even though I hope that an emissary fulfills his mission—and every person is an emissary of G‑d (see Likkutei Torah beginning of Parshas Vayikra 1:3), and this mission is essentially to serve his Creator through Torah and mitzvah—still, it is ruled at the beginning of Yoreh De'ah that where clarification is needed, etc.
