Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 23rd of Menachem Av, in which you write that you lack a daily schedule and find yourself in worry, despair, and sadness, etc., and do not know how to return to Hashem, etc.
It has already been stated in many holy books, especially in the books and discourses of Chassidus—and among them in the holy book Tanya as referenced in the index at the end of Tanya. But like other parts of Torah, it is absorbed and acquired much more effectively through learning with friends. From this it is understood that one should learn Tanya at least with one other person. In Jerusalem the Holy City there are many Avrechim and also elders with whom you can set a study session on this subject; they are people who can explain anything difficult in these books if needed. It is known what the Mitteler Rebbe (the son of the Alter Rebbe) said: when two people discuss matters of Torah and service of Hashem, it is two G‑dly souls against one animal soul—and this is easily understood.
May it be G‑d's will that you report clear improvement in all the above. Nothing stands in the way of willpower; as our Sages say: "If you labored but did not find—do not believe." Surely you know about the three daily Chitas (Chumash, Tehillim, Tanya) lessons; at least keep up with them from now on.
With blessings for a good inscription and sealing,
In the name of the Lubavitcher Rebbe shlita,
Mazkir
Summary
Learning Tanya together with others helps overcome despair and sadness by strengthening one's connection to Torah and friends. Setting regular study sessions brings greater clarity and success in spiritual growth.
