Shalom u'Vrachah! [2 Iyar 5719]

After a very long pause, your letter from the 23rd of Nissan was received, along with a brief report of your activities. It is certainly astonishing and surprising that there was such a long break, especially since I have received several reports from others about your activities in recent months, which were successful and left a good impression—sometimes even a strong impression, etc. etc. Why withhold this goodness from being shared, especially since it is good for Heaven, good for people, and good deeds bear fruit, as our Sages say in Kiddushin 40a.

From the above it is also understood that what you write about your mood not improving due to various reasons is certainly not consistent with reality. It is already known from the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, that the prohibition against lashon hara (negative speech) applies not only regarding others but also regarding oneself. There is also a well-known directive from my father (the Rebbe): just as one must know their own shortcomings, one must also know their own strengths. Furthermore—it should be noted—that when it comes to working with others, sometimes recognizing one's own strengths is even more important than recognizing one's shortcomings; this is clear.

At an auspicious time you and all your family will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe—may his merit protect us—and may it be G‑d's will that you will share good news about each one of them.

Since we are coming from the month of Nissan and are now in the month of Ziv (Iyar), in which "the luminaries of the world" were born—and it is known from the teachings of the Arizal that when these days are remembered (they are also re-enacted), there is an increase in both individual and communal matters: immediately—freedom and redemption—to increase light in the world; light and radiance from our ancestors' deeds. As explained in Tanya: all their limbs and actions were solely for the Supreme Will all their days.

Blessings for sharing only good news in all mentioned above.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that sharing positive accomplishments benefits both Heaven and people. Recognizing one's own strengths is vital—not just for personal growth but also to inspire effective action with others. Spreading good news multiplies blessing for all involved.
