In response to your letter from the 27th of MarCheshvan, I was pleased to read that your student body has grown, and among them are those outstanding not only in Torah but also in awe and character. Certainly, it is unnecessary to stress the necessity of this matter; therefore, every effort and endeavor in this is worthwhile.

Regarding what you wrote about a guide for this matter: there is reason to say that the search should be conducted by the activists themselves, who know the yeshivah students and those who recently left yeshivah and are suitable for this work.

You do not mention in your letter whether you have study sessions on the halachos needed for daily life. Perhaps this omission was only in writing; regardless, it is clear and obvious that such study is essential—especially in our times. In previous generations, daily conduct was known to each person from their parents' home and even from the street—and certainly from the synagogue, where they would go two or three times a day. But in an orphaned generation like ours, all this must be provided by the educational institution where the child studies—starting from Alef-Bet and including even the simplest practical halachos. If only such study were instituted even in larger yeshivos! For unfortunately, knowledge of laws from Orach Chaim—the most common and regular—is very weak indeed; and an error in learning leads to further issues.

Now that we have entered the month of Kislev—the month of redemption and victory, especially with the bright day of Yud-Tes Kislev (the Rosh Hashanah of Chassidus and its ways)—may it be G‑d's will that you engage in spreading the wellsprings wherever you can reach. May Hashem grant you success for good in all these matters.

The Rebbe teaches that today's chinuch must actively provide daily halachah study and moral guidance once absorbed naturally at home or shul. Every effort toward this is vital for our generation's spiritual strength.
