Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your message that you have begun putting on tefillin these days and are preparing for your bar mitzvah, and that you are learning the maamar "It is stated in Midrash Tehillim" with the intention of repeating it at your bar mitzvah. May it be the will of Hashem that you frequently contemplate the intention behind the mitzvah of tefillin as explained in Shulchan Aruch and also in Tanya chapter 41: to nullify and include your wisdom and understanding—that is, not to use the wisdom and understanding of your soul except for Hashem alone; likewise to nullify the aspect of daas (knowledge) in your soul—which are awe and love in your heart—and most importantly, to fulfill this practically by increasing diligence and persistence in Torah study, doing so with dedication and heartfelt involvement, which will bring success.
Surely you recite some chapters of Tehillim after prayer and give some coins to charity before prayer as is customary among members of Eshel Talmidei HaYeshivos (the Association of Yeshiva Students)—and may Hashem grant you success.
With blessing.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that true service of Hashem involves dedicating one's intellect and emotions solely to G‑d. This should be expressed through focused Torah study, sincere prayer, and acts of charity—especially as one prepares for important milestones like a bar mitzvah.
