It was pleasant to receive your letter with good news that you have arranged the engagement of your daughter Mrs. Chava Yehudis, may she live, and have set the wedding date for the first day of Rosh Chodesh Adar, G‑d willing. May it be the will of Hashem that it should be for a mazal tov, mazal tov, at an auspicious and successful time, and may their home be built everlasting upon the foundations of Torah and mitzvah as they are illuminated by the light within Torah—that is, the teachings of Chassidus. May you and your wife, the Rebbetzin, may you both live and be well, derive much true chassidic nachas from them.

It is known from our Sages: "When Adar enters we increase in joy" (brought as halachah in Magen Avraham Orach Chaim 686:5; see also Shut Chatam Sofer Orach Chaim end of section and Nimukei Orach Chaim there—for further sources see Minchat Elazar). And as written in Rema Orach Chaim 568:7 it is from Adar. Therefore according to Shut HaGeonim and Mahari Tz Giat (brought in Tur Orach Chaim 560; see also works cited in Sdei Chemed Pe'at HaSadeh Klalim section 82), joy is strengthened three times: Adar itself, Rosh Chodesh, and the joy of a wedding celebration. And this strength continues for the future.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that times of simchah—like Adar, Rosh Chodesh, and weddings—should be used to strengthen happiness not only now but also for the future. Building a home on Torah and chassidus brings lasting nachas.
