Shalom u'Vrachah!
I just received your letter from the 18th of Shevat and I am hurrying to reply because I was alarmed by the end of your letter, where due to your health you wrote: "It is very possible that I will resign from my position in the coming days." Even though my hope is strong that this is only a passing thought and initial consideration, even such a thought is regrettable, for even a fleeting idea leaves an impression on the energy of its thinker and even on his surroundings.
Certainly for someone like yourself who is present in Eretz HaKodesh, there is no need for lengthy explanation about the necessity that every single member of the camp of those who are G‑d-fearing not only remain steadfast in their public responsibilities but also increase their strength in this area. For positive measure outweighs negative, and if the opposing side mobilizes all its forces, then all the more so must this be true in the camp of those who are G‑d-fearing.
Regarding what you write about your health: it is well known the saying of our Rebbe, the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch, about the preciousness and importance of a Jewish body. The Rambam has already ruled (Hilchos Deos ch. 4) that having a healthy and whole body is one of the ways of serving Hashem. Certainly one must arrange one's work so that it does not harm one's health; on the contrary, work should serve as a channel and vessel for strengthening health—aside from what is simply understood and according to Torah law regarding 'Aklushi d'Mehoza' (Bava Metzia 77a; see Rosh there).
It is also clear spiritually that actions which uplift Keren Yisrael Saba—especially when you are laboring in this—draw down material blessings at their proper time. As explained in Polish seforim: "Gishmeichem" (your rains) comes from "gashmiyus" (materiality).
With honor and blessing.
Awaiting good news.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that maintaining one's health is essential for effective public service and spiritual growth. Even thoughts of resignation can impact one's energy and environment; therefore, one should strengthen resolve and arrange duties to support both communal responsibility and personal well-being.
