I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letters from Erev Shabbat Kodesh Vayechi—7th, 16th, 19th, 23rd, 25th, and 26th of Teves—with their enclosures.

b) Surely Haraha"ch vavaha"ch iy"a nu"n oseik b'tzt"z Maharachma Schneersohn Chodakov informed you at the time about the visit to me by a group of boys and girls from Bachad who are also connected to the Beis Midrash in Chicago. According to what they said, they will be staying in our camp for several days. Therefore, it is very important that you meet with them in an appropriate manner so you will have the opportunity to strengthen within them (farfestiken in zei) the necessity in our times for guidance and customs of Chassidus—that is, that every matter in Torah and mitzvos should be done with vitality and warmth; and the manner of service should be with Ahavas Yisrael (love of a fellow Jew), Ahavas HaTorah (love of Torah), and Ahavas Hashem (love of G‑d), all united together, etc., etc. It is surprising that you did not mention anything about this.

On a related note: regarding meeting with... whom you telegraphed me about on your suggestion—you should also use this opportunity to draw them closer to Chassidus. This is like the saying of the Baal Shem Tov that from everything one sees or hears one can—and therefore must—take a lesson in serving Hashem. Similarly, every situation that comes one's way should be used to spread the wellsprings [of Chassidus], even outward; elaborating on this is unnecessary.

c) I was pleased by what you wrote about the inauguration of Rabbi Radm Lieberman's synagogue—that you participated in it—and may it be G‑d's will that all Anash (our people) in Chicago will continue to cooperate in this way; likewise all Anash in other places as well. From among them and through them may the Supreme Name be glorified...

Enclosed is a copy of the maamar delivered last year on the day of the yahrzeit; this matter has now been published, and surely you will act generously to enable many others to benefit from it.
