Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the eve of Yom Kippur: The main point is about your fixed times for studying the teachings of Chassidus. As our Sages rule: 'Not study is the main thing but action'—to fulfill the guidance and conduct of Chassidus. Of course, this includes maintaining the three daily lessons that are equal for everyone—in Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya—and each person must add to this according to his ability. Especially those who do not yet have worries about earning a livelihood and can spend more time in the tent of Torah.

Regarding what you wrote: one must completely stop thinking about that matter. If the yetzer hara comes with such thoughts, do not engage in battle with it; instead, begin to think or learn Torah. Even a little light dispels much darkness.

May Hashem help you so that, ultimately, you will become a chassid and begin to follow (the ways of Chassidus).

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that consistent study and practical application of Chassidus are essential. When faced with negative thoughts, one should turn immediately to Torah study—since even a small amount of light dispels much darkness.
