I acknowledge receipt of your letter with its enclosure.

I was glad of the meeting between the Rav and Gaon, the Rav and Chassid, the veteran Chassid, a G‑d-fearing man, distinguished, engaged in communal needs, energetic and a man of many deeds, our teacher Rabbi Binyomin Eliyahu Gorodetzky^[3], may he live long, and your honor^[4]. He surely told your honor about the far-reaching work being done with self-sacrifice by Anash in distant corners in spreading Torah and the fear of Heaven, as in villages and towns in Morocco, and likewise in the Holy Land, may it be built and established^[5], in Australia, and in a number of countries near and far. This work demands the greatest support, at least in financial means, so that the self-sacrifice^[6] of the workers will bring the greatest benefit, without limitations due to a lack of financial means.

Since I heard from my father-in-law, the Rebbe^[7], a number of times about your honor's help in financial matters too, and knowing your influence not only in the Chavkin Fund but also in other sources of funds, I hope that you will use your influence and take part in our work in the greatest measure possible.

May it be G‑d's will that, with peace of mind, an expansive spirit and proper health, you go from strength to strength in our holy Torah and its mitzvos, and merit to give and to receive only good tidings among all of Israel, in visible and revealed good.

2. Dr. Ehrmann (ד"ר עהרמאן): Zurich (as in the publisher's note to letter 7469). Rabbi Dr. Shlomo Ehrmann of Zurich, Switzerland. In letter 3959 (14 Kislev 5716) the Rebbe mentions that at the request of the Previous Rebbe he had translated part of the "Shmuessen" into French and German; in letter 5874 (26 Cheshvan 5718) having seen "in a periodical appearing in Switzerland" an item about 19 Kislev, he sends him a booklet on the story of that festival, to be used "to explain the story of the day to circles that for some reason have not known of it until now"; and in letter 7469 (18 Cheshvan 5721) he blesses him on reaching seventy-five, that he continue "in helping to spread the wellsprings of Chassidus, by way of supporting their institutions in our Holy Land and also in Paris".

Summary

The Rebbe tells Dr. Shlomo Ehrmann of Zurich that he was glad of his meeting with R. Binyomin Eliyahu Gorodetzky, who surely described the self-sacrificing work of Anash in spreading Torah in Morocco, the Holy Land, Australia and elsewhere. Recalling that he heard from the Previous Rebbe several times of Dr. Ehrmann's help, financial help too, he asks him to use his influence with the Chavkin Fund and other sources to support this work.
