Shalom u'Vrachah!

After a long pause and silence, I received your two letters from the 3rd of Adar with their enclosures and the pan. At an auspicious time I will mention you and all those you write about at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal, each one for what they need according to your letter's content. May it be G‑d's will that very soon you will have good news regarding the matters you wrote about.

I was especially pleased to read in your letter that although it is difficult for you, you promised to soon fulfill your pledge regarding the acquisition of rooms. It is well known the saying of my father-in-law, the Rebbe: when a Jew pledges charity with a generous hand—meaning it seems to him beyond his ability—even if this is truly so, at that moment they open above a channel of livelihood so he can fulfill his pledge. To add to our teacher's words: since it is G‑d who gives the Torah and commands the mitzvah "Serve Hashem with joy," especially in mitzvah matters, it is clear that not only are channels opened in general but also that sustenance increases joyfully. Merit is brought about on meritorious days—these are the days of Adar about which we are commanded to increase in joy—which will also increase blessings from Hashem and success in all matters mentioned at the end of Midrash Esther Rabbah—which are abundant.

Blessings for good news in all mentioned above, including that you use your talents specifically in education on pure holiness and your firm decision to continue doing so in the future. May it be G‑d's will that here too the saying "Nothing stands before willpower" be fulfilled. Blessings for a joyous Purim.

It is most appropriate that in our camp you should encourage everyone whom you think my father-in-law meant by "Anash" in his letter about this topic to make an accounting of all the time passed since (fifteen years! And in our era—as people say—the atomic age): what has been done regarding what was discussed in the letter and what has been done in the opposite direction. Since you merited receiving a letter relevant to many—at least "the poor of your city," it concerns them. As Chazal relate (Shabbat 55a): If before Hashem it is revealed who did not accept these words—before people is it revealed?

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that fulfilling charitable pledges brings divine blessing and increased sustenance, especially when done with joy during Adar. He urges communal self-reflection and dedication to holy education as ongoing sources of merit and blessing.
