In response to your letter from the 8th of Elul, in which you write that surely the Rashba on Bava Basra that you printed has already been received, etc. — as of now it has not yet arrived, but from your letter it seems it will arrive in these days. Enclosed is payment for shipping expenses.

May it be G‑d's will that you increase your strength in matters of Torah and mitzvah — not only in Torah itself but also in its learners; perhaps more accurately, primarily in its learners. As our Sages famously say: "Seven things preceded the world: Torah and Israel... and the thought of Israel preceded everything." This is also one of the teachings of our Torah regarding how a Jew should conduct himself. It is well known the ruling about how great are the deeds of Chiya — even compared to those of Rabbi Chanina (Kesubos 103b). This is also the reason for revealing the secrets of Torah — its inner dimension — abundantly and in a manner of spreading outward until they reach even those far away. As is known from the parable told by Rabbeinu HaZaken, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch, about the king's son and the precious stone set in the king's crown (printed in HaTamim booklet 2 p.49).

As we approach the new year that is coming upon us and all Israel for good and blessing, I hereby express my blessing to you and all yours: may you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year both materially and spiritually.
