במענה על מכתבו מר"ח מנ"א, בו כותב אודות העסק שקנו אצלו סחורה ועתה קישוים בהנוגע לתשלומין, וספק אם יבוא הדבר לפועל וכו'.
בעת רצון יזכירוהו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע לפרנסה בכשרות ובמנוחה, ויהי רצון שככל התלוי בו יקים ההודעה המפורסמת של רבנו הזקן בעל התניא והשו"ע, אז הקב"ה גיט אידן גשמיות און זיי מאכען פון גשמיות רוחניות, פירושו, שמשתמשים בהפרנסה לעניני תורה ומצותי' והחלק של פרנסת עצמו ובני ביתו ג"כ על פי הוראת השו"ע שאז גם זה קדושה היא, וכמ"ש בכל דרכיך דעהו, וכמבואר בארוכה בשו"ע אורח חיים סי' רל"א, ומהנכון הי' שינהג בהפרשת מעשר מהריוח לצדקה וכבר נאמר על זה, ובחנוני נא בזאת וגו'...
בטח יודע משלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש מתקנת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר
זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע והם: א) אמירת שיעור תהלים - כפי שנחלק התהלים לימי החדש - בכל יום אחר תפלת הבקר, ב) לימוד פרשה חומש עם פירוש רש"י מהסדרה של השבוע (ביום א' מהתחלת הסדרה עד פרשת שני, ביום שני מפרשת שני עד שלישי וכו'), ג) לימוד שיעור תניא בכל יום - כפי שנחלק התניא לימות השנה - ועכ"פ ישמור אותם מכאן ולהבא.

In response to your letter from Rosh Chodesh Menachem Av, in which you write about the business where merchandise was purchased from you and now there are difficulties regarding payment, and there is doubt whether the matter will come to fruition, etc.
At an auspicious time you will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal, for livelihood in a kosher and peaceful manner. May it be G‑d's will that as far as what depends on you, you fulfill the well-known statement of our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch: 'Then the Holy One gives Jews materiality and they make from materiality spirituality,' meaning that one uses their livelihood for matters of Torah and mitzvos. The portion used for one's own sustenance and that of one's family should also be according to the directives of Shulchan Aruch; then this too is holiness, as it is written: 'In all your ways know Him' (Mishlei 3:6), as explained at length in Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim siman 231. It would also be proper to practice giving a tenth of your profits to charity. It has already been said regarding this: 'And test Me now with this...' (Malachi 3:10)...
You surely know about the three practices established by my revered father-in-law the Rebbe zatzal which are suitable for everyone: a) Reciting a daily portion of Tehillim as divided according to the days of the month—every day after morning prayers; b) Studying the weekly Torah portion with Rashi's commentary (on Sunday from the beginning until Sheini, on Monday from Sheini to Shelishi, etc.); c) Studying a daily portion of Tanya as divided throughout the year—and at least keep these practices from now on.
