Spiritual Health and Expanding Activities in the Chabad Orchard

The Rebbe writes that spiritual health improves through expanding one's activities in the Chabad orchard, especially within Tzeirei Agudas Chabad. He advises redirecting distracting thoughts, checking tefillin, and maintaining daily study of Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya.

Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 3rd of Shevat. Thank you for the good news about your improved physical health. May it be G‑d's will that you will also share good news about your spiritual health improving as well, which also depends on expanding your activities in the Chabad orchard and especially within the framework of Tzeirei Agudas Chabad.

Regarding what you wrote about feeling excitement etc., the recommended advice in such matters is to divert your attention; that is, when you sense such thoughts, dismiss them by thinking about something else—ideally something related to Torah—and not to fight these thoughts directly with intellectual arguments. Ignoring them is much more effective.

It is appropriate—if your tefillin have not been checked in the past twelve months—to have them checked now. Also, be careful—without making a vow—to maintain the three daily study sessions established by my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal: Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya as is well known.

With blessing,
In the name of my father-in-law, the Rebbe shlita,
Secretary
