צו דער פייערונג פון דעם חג הסמיכה, אין דעם טאג פון י"ט כסלו הבע"ל, שיק איך מיין באגריסונג אין ברכה צו די ראשי - ומנהלי הישיבה, די תלמידים מוסמכים און אלע געסט און אנטיילנעמער אין דער שמחה של תורה.
די דאזיגע תורה-פייערונג אין דער ליובאוויטשער ישיבה, אויסער דעם עצם ענין, איז א געשעעניש פון ווייטגייענדער באדייטונג און דאפּעלטער שמחה, נעמענדיק אין אכט דעם אייגנארטיקן כאראקטער פון דער ישיבה און אירע מחונכים.
ווארום אויב אין אמאליקע יארן איז דער הויפּט צוועק פון א ישיבה געווען איינצופלאנצען אין די תלמידים טיפע ידיעות אין דער תורה הק', ניט דארפנדיק זארגען וועגן דער השפעה פון דער סביבה, איז אבער אין דער היינטיגער צייט די הויפּט אויפגאבע פון א ישיבה צו דערציען ניט נאר לומדים, נאר דווקא לומדים יראי-שמים. די כוונה און שיטה פון א ליובאוויטשער ישיבה גייט נאך ווייטער: צו דערציען ניט נאר לומדים יראי-שמים בעלי מדות טובות ושומרי תורה ומצוה בהידור, נאך אויך איינפלאנצן אין די תלמידים דעם געפיל פון אחריות פאר דעם צווייטן, דורכגעדרונגען מיט דעם געפיל פון אהבת-ישראל און מסירות נפש. דערפאר זיינען די תלמידים און מחונכים פון דער ליובאוויטשער ישיבה "נרות להאיר", וועכלע פארשפּרייטן די ליכטיקייט פון תורה ומצוות מדות טובות ומנהגים טובים אין יעדן ארט און סביבה וואו די השגחה עליונה פירט זיי.
אלעס איז דאך בהשגחה פרטית; אזוי אויך דאס וואס דער חג הסמיכה קומט פאָר אין דעם ליכטיגען טאג פון י"ט כסלו, דער חג הגאולה פון כ"ק רבינו הזקן, בעל התניא ושלחן ערוך. אין דעם טאג איז דער אלטער רבי באפרייט געווארן פון די קיטרוגים דערפאר וואס ער האט זיך מוסר נפש געווען בפועל ממש אויף צו פארשפּרייטן ניט נאר די קוואלן פון תורה נאר אויך פון הנהגה טובה, וואס צוליב דעם האט ער איינגעפירט פיל תקנות, און פארשפּרייטן זיי אפילו צווישן די וועלכע געפינען זיך נאך "חוצה", אין דרויסן. זיכער וועט זיך דער גייסט אפּרופן אין די מוסמכים און אין די אנטיילנעמער אין דעם חג הסמיכה און אין דער ליכט פון תורת החסידות ומנהגי החסידות וועלן זיי אויסשפּרייטן זייער השפעה אין זייער סביבה, יעדער איינער ארום זיך, סיי אויף די נאענטע און סיי אויף די וועלכע שטייען נאך דערוויילע פון דערווייטן, כדי צו דערנעענטערן זיי לאבינו שבשמים.
דער זכות פון תלמוד תורה ביראת שמים און דער זכות פון רבותינו הק' זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע זאל יעדן איינעם ביישטיין ממשיך צו זיין ברכה והצלחה לו ולב"ב שיחיו אין וואס זיי נויטיגען זיך בגשמיות וברוחניות.
בברכת חג הגאולה, אשר אור וחיות נפשנו ניתן לנו.

To the participants in the celebration of the ordination festival at Yeshivah Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch Montreal — may Hashem be upon them and grant them life — greetings and blessings!
For the celebration of this ordination festival, on the upcoming day of Yud-Tes Kislev, I send my greetings and blessings to the heads and directors of the Yeshivah, the ordained students, and all guests and participants in this Torah rejoicing.
This Torah celebration in the Lubavitcher Yeshivah, beyond its essential aspect, is an event of far-reaching significance and double joy, considering the unique character of this Yeshivah and its educators.
For if in earlier years the main purpose of a yeshivah was to instill deep knowledge of our holy Torah in its students without needing to worry about outside influences, in our present time the main task of a yeshivah is to educate not only scholars but specifically scholars who are G‑d-fearing.
The intention and approach of a Lubavitcher yeshivah goes even further: to educate not only G‑d-fearing scholars with good character traits who observe Torah and mitzvos with excellence but also to instill in students a sense of responsibility for others, permeated with Ahavas Yisrael and self-sacrifice.
Therefore, the students and educators of the Lubavitcher yeshivah are "candles to illuminate," spreading the light of Torah and mitzvos, good character traits and customs wherever Divine Providence leads them.
Everything is by Divine Providence; so too is it that this ordination festival occurs on the luminous day of Yud-Tes Kislev — the festival of redemption of our master Rabbi Schneur Zalman, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch.
On this day, the Alter Rebbe was freed from accusations because he had literally devoted himself to spreading not only sources of Torah but also good conduct. For this reason he instituted many enactments and spread them even among those still "outside."
Certainly this spirit will be evident among those ordained and all participants in this ordination festival. In the light of Chassidus and chassidic customs they will spread their influence in their surroundings — each one around himself — both among those close by and those still distant for now, to bring them closer to our Father in Heaven.
The merit of Torah study with fear of Heaven and the merit of our holy Rebbeim zatzal should stand by each one to draw down blessing and success for him and his family in all their material and spiritual needs.
With blessings for Chag HaGeulah — through which light and vitality for our souls has been given us.
Summary
