Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter, in which you write that even though you have been in Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim for over a year, you still do not feel any change in yourself, etc., etc.
It is well known from our sages that a person cannot testify about himself, since he is close to himself; just as in revealed law his testimony is invalid both for merit and for obligation, so too regarding matters of the heart. In my opinion, this is nothing but the advice of the yetzer hara who wants to confuse you from ascending on the path and road leading to the House of G‑d through various tactics. Even if perhaps you could have changed more than you have, G‑d forbid to say there has been no change at all over twelve months—as it says: Midvar Sheker Tirchak ("Distance yourself from falsehood").
In order for you to begin feeling this change openly (even though it is not clear why such feeling is necessary), and most importantly—to improve as much as possible—you should be careful with immersion according to Ezra's ordinance, give some coins to tzedakah every weekday before prayer, and study the inner dimension of Torah before prayer. As a result, your prayers will be more accepted; the beginning of one's requests—the twelve middle blessings—starts with "Choneinu Me'itcha Chochmah Binah V'Daat" ("Grant us from You wisdom, understanding, and knowledge").
Blessings that you study the Torah of Hashem with diligence and perseverance and with fear of Heaven, and fulfill mitzvos with beauty. All for good in all mentioned above.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that feelings of no progress are often misleading and stem from the yetzer hara. Trusting outside perspective and following practical steps—like immersion, giving tzedakah before prayer, and learning inner Torah—will help reveal real spiritual growth.
