במענה על מכתבו, בו כותב שאיננו מרגיש חשק ורצון פנימי בלימודיו כו'.
הנה כבר כתבתי בזה לכמה מחבריו והוספתי שכל אברכי התלמידים בכלל זה שתורתנו הק' תורת חיים פסקה אשר יגעת ולא מצאת אל תאמין, ובמילא בידם הדבר שישתדלו בזה ע"י התמדה ושקידה ובקביעות בנפש נוסף על הקביעות בזמן בשמירת זמני וסדרי הלימוד ולעסוק בתורת ה' תורה תמימה במסירה ונתינה אמיתית מבלי מחשבות חוץ, חשבונות וכיוצא בזה, ואז מובטחים הם שיצליחו, אלא שצריך לטהר הכלי לקבלת התורה הוא הגוף ובפרט המחשבות ודבורים.
ולכן צריך להזהר בטבילת עזרא ולהזהר במצות אהבת ישראל ביותר וביותר ובמדות טובות בכלל ולעסוק בפנימיות התורה נשמתא דאורייתא וחיותה אשר עי"ז נתגלה החיות גם בנגלה דתורה, והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל הנ"ל, בין בהנוגע לעצמו והן בנוגע לחביריו, וההקדם בזה ישובח.

In response to your letter, in which you write that you do not feel enthusiasm or inner desire in your studies, etc. I have already written about this to several of your friends and added that all Avrechim among the students are included in this: our holy Torah, the Torah of life, rules that "if you labored and did not find [success], do not believe it." Therefore, it is within their power to strive for this through diligence and perseverance, with a steadfast commitment in spirit in addition to fixed times—by keeping to the schedule and order of study—and to engage in the Torah of Hashem, the complete Torah, with true dedication and without outside thoughts or calculations or the like. Then they are assured of success; however, one must purify the vessel for receiving the Torah—that is, the body—and especially one's thoughts and speech.
Therefore, one must be careful with immersion as prescribed by Ezra and be especially careful with the mitzvah of Ahavas Yisrael (love for a fellow Jew), as well as good character traits in general. One should also engage in the inner dimension of Torah—the soul and vitality of Torah—through which vitality is revealed even in the revealed aspects of Torah. May Hashem grant you success to share good news regarding all of the above—both concerning yourself and your friends—and the sooner this is done, the better.
