הנני בזה להביע ת"ח על תשורתו ספרו שערי המצות שקבלתיו ע"י הרה"ח אי"א נו"נ כו' מוה"ר שלום דובער שי' ראסקין שו"ב, ויה"ר מהשי"ת אשר חילו יהי' לאורייתא להגדיל תורה ולהאדירה ע"י סימנים סדורים וכו' אזנים לתורה אשר אם בדורות הראשונים כמלאכים גדלה המעלה בזה, וכ[ד]רז"ל בכמה מקומות הרי עאכו"כ בדורות האחרונים ואחרון האחרונים.

I hereby express my thanks for your gift of your sefer Sharei HaMitzvos, which I received through Haraha"ch iy"a nu"n etc. Shalom DovBer Raskin, shochet and bodek. May it be the will of Hashem that your strength be dedicated to Torah—to increase and glorify Torah—by means of organized simanim (signs), etc., 'ears for the Torah.' If in earlier generations, when people were like angels, this quality was considered great—as our Sages say in several places—how much more so in these later generations and especially now.
I take this opportunity to thank you for your assistance to the refugee shochatim among Anash. Thank you for what you have done so far, and I request that you continue to help them in all matters as much as you are able. Even though I am sure that you would do so regardless, "one only urges those who are already diligent," and this is only meant as an encouragement.
