מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מיום א' שבוע זה ונהניתי לקרות בו אשר משבחים את בניו בלימודיהם בתורה ויה"ר מהשי"ת שיהי' זה בפועל כמרז"ל לא המדרש עיקר אלא המעשה שהלימוד יביא לידי קיום המצות בהידור ומובן שאשר מוכרח הדבר שילמדו ג"כ חסידות שאז נתקיים הענין דיראת ד' היא אוצרו שעי"ז נשמר ג"כ לימוד התורה כמבואר בדרז"ל (שבת לא, סע"א) ובודאי פשיטא בכדי שיתקבלו דרכים אלו אצל בניו שיחיו צריך שיהי' גם לו שיעור קבוע בלימוד החסידות, ומדגיש הנני בלימוד ולא קריאה ועיון מזמן לזמן כי ידוע הפס"ד יגעת ולא מצאת אל תאמין, והאריכות אך למותר...

מ"ש אודות משרה טובה ויפה בשבילו, הרי בודאי ידוע לו המצב במשרות כמו אלו בהערים כמו נויארק וכו' שהמחפשים משרות מספרם הרבה יותר מאשר המשרות.
ולהחליף משרתו עתה למשרה בעיר קטנה לכאורה מה היא התועלת בזה.

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from Sunday of this week and was pleased to read that your sons are praised for their Torah studies. May it be the will of Hashem that this be realized in practice, as our Sages say: "Not the study is the main thing but the deed," meaning that learning should lead to the observance of mitzvos with excellence.
It is understood that it is necessary for them to also learn Chasidus, for then the matter of "the fear of G‑d is His treasure" will be fulfilled—through this, their Torah study is also preserved, as explained by our Sages (Shabbos 31a). Certainly—and obviously—in order for these approaches to be accepted by your sons, you yourself must have a fixed schedule in studying Chasidus. I emphasize: in studying—not just reading or occasionally delving into it—for it is known what our Sages ruled: "If you toiled and did not find, do not believe." There is no need to elaborate further...

P.S. Regarding what you wrote about a good and beautiful position for yourself: surely you know the situation with such positions in cities like New York, etc., where those seeking jobs far outnumber the available positions. And to exchange your current position for one in a small town—what benefit would there be in this?
