במענה על מכתבו ממוצש"ק בו כותב אשר מצב הפרנסה אינו כמו שהי' לפני זה כי נגרע מאז.
והנה ידוע מאמר הקב"ה ובחנוני נא בזאת. והוא בענין הצדקה שיהי' עשר בשביל שתתעשר. וידוע ג"כ שבצדקה אמרו לפום גמלא שיחנא. ובמילא מה הפלא אם כשאין נזהרים בענין הצדקה כדבעי שהוא לכה"פ מעשר ומה טוב יותר מזה שעי"ז הנה נגרע מצב הפרנסה. אבל לאידך גיסא מזה גופא נודע שהדבר בידו הוא. שאם יוסיף תומ"י בעניני הצדקה כהנ"ל ועוד יותר הרי בטוח הוא השי"ת למלאות הבטחתו וכנ"ל. אלא שכיון שבכל דבר צ"ל סייעתא דשמיא הרי צריך לקבוע שיעור בלימוד תורת הנגלה ותורת החסידות נוסף על שלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש מתקנת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים. והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל הנ"ל ויה"ר שיהי' זה בהקדם.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from Motzaei Shabbat Kodesh in which you write that your livelihood is not as it was before, as it has declined since then. It is well known the saying of the Holy One, blessed be He: "U'Bechanuni Na Bazot" ("Test Me now with this")—this refers to charity, that one should give a tenth so that you will become wealthy. It is also known regarding charity that they said: "Lefum Gamla Shichna" ("According to the camel is its load"). Therefore, what is surprising if when one is not careful with charity as required—which should be at least a tenth and preferably more—the state of livelihood declines as a result?
On the other hand, from this itself it is clear that the matter is in his hands: if he immediately increases in matters of charity as above and even more so, then he can be certain that Hashem will fulfill His promise as mentioned above. However, since in every matter there must be assistance from Heaven (siyata diShmaya), one should establish a fixed time for learning both the revealed part of Torah and Chassidus—in addition to the three daily lessons established by my revered father-in-law the Rebbe zatzal: Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya.
May Hashem grant you success to share good news in all the above matters, and may it be speedily. With blessing.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that carefulness in giving charity and increasing Torah study are directly connected to one's livelihood. By strengthening these areas beyond the minimum requirements, one can trust in G‑d's blessings for sustenance and success.
