...And in response to your questions.
a) Regarding your lack of emotional excitement in your study and prayers: Study the booklet Pokeach Ivrim, which has also been translated into the Holy Tongue and is by the Mitteler Rebbe, son of the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch. It is surely available at the administration of Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Brunnoy. There you will see several reasons why one's body and animal soul may not be moved by study and prayer—and how it is within your power to correct this. As our Sages say: 'The Holy One does not come with excessive demands upon His creatures and only asks according to their ability.' Since you were given such a body and animal soul, you were certainly also given the powers to conquer them.
b) Regarding your writing that foreign thoughts disturb you during prayer: It is known that such thoughts during prayer come as a result of idle matters and empty thoughts before prayer. The more you define yourself in this area, the fewer distracting thoughts will occur during prayer. Pray from a siddur; also say some chapters of Tehillim before and after prayer; give a coin to tzedakah before praying.
c) Regarding your suffering from negative thoughts: You should learn Chassidic discourses which ultimately gladden the heart and uplift the soul—thus raising you out of the mire. You can begin with the booklet Maayan MiBeis Hashem Yotzei.
d) In general, it is difficult to answer such questions in detail by letter. The advantage of words of inspiration heard directly from mouth to mouth, face to face, is well known. Therefore seek out at the earliest opportunity a meeting with the mashpia at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Brunnoy—the chassid harav hachassid haRav Nissan Naamanov—and show him this letter; ask him to listen to your situation and advise you for good both materially and spiritually. The sooner you do so, the better.
Blessings for inscription and sealing for good.
In the name of the Lubavitcher Rebbe shlita. The secretary N.B.
Regarding your question about finding here kosher Sephardic tefillin: In general this is not common here; turn to our office in Paris which is connected with Sephardim in Morocco—perhaps through them it can be arranged for you.
Summary
The Rebbe guides on overcoming emotional numbness in Torah study and prayer by recommending specific Chassidic texts, practical steps for focus, and seeking personal guidance from a mashpia for spiritual growth.
