איך האף, אז איר וועט זיך פיל באנוצן מיט דעם ספר בא אייערע צוזאמענקונפטן, כדי נעענטער צו באקענען זיך מיטן לעבן און שאפן פון כ"ק נשיאינו, די "אבות חב"ד" זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, שעפן פון זייערע לעבעדיקע קוואלן און אזוי ארום קענען בעסער ערפילן אייערע פליכטן אלס פרויען און טעכטער פון חב"ד, צו פארשפרייטן די ליכטיקייט פון תורה און מצוות אין גייסט פון תורת חב"ד, ניט נאר בא זיך אין דערהיים, נאר אין דער גאנצער סביבה.
אזוי ווי אלץ איז בהשגחה פרטית, איז אויך דאס וואס דער "בית רבי" איז ארויס פון דרוק אין דעם חודש הגאולה פון חב"ד ובפרט אין די טעג פון חנוכה, קען מען דערפון ארויסלערנען א הוראה.
דער אונטערשייד צווישן די נרות חנוכה און נרות של שבת וואס פרויען זיינען אין ביידע פארפליכטעט, איז, צווישן אנדערעס, אויך אין דעם וואס די נרות חנוכה צינדט מען אן נאך דער שקיעה, ווען עס איז שוין נאכט, אבער נרות שבת צינדט מען אן פאר דער שקיעה, ווען עס איז נאך טאג. אויסער דעם, צינדט מען ערב-שבת אן די זעלבע צאל ליכט ווי אלעמאל, אבער די חנוכה ליכט ווערן פארגרעסערט אין צאל אלע נאכט.
דאס איז אן אנדייטונג, אז מען קען זיך ניט באגנוגענען מיט דעם וואס מען מאכט ליכטיק די אייגענע היים מיט דער ליכטיקייט פון תורה און מצוות און מאור שבתורה, די אינערלעכע ליכטיקייט פון דער תורה, וואס דאס איז תורת החסידות: מען מוז אויך ליכטיק מאכן די "גאס", וואס אויף דרויף זיינען מרמז די נרות חנוכה (וואס זייער ארט איז על פתח ביתו מבחוץ - ביים אריינגאנג אין הויז פון דרויסן). נאך מער: אין דער צייט ווען עס איז פינסטער אויפן גאס, איז ניט גענוג בלויז אנצוצינדן ליכט, נאר מען מוז זיין מוסיף והולך - צוגעבן כסדר נייע ליכט, פארגרעסערן די כוחות און אויסברייטערן די ארבעט אלץ מער און מער. לויט דער שיטה פון חסידות חב"ד וואס איז באזירט אויף די יסודות פון אהבת השם, אהבת התורה און אהבת ישראל.
איך האף, אז אייער ארבעט וועט אויך זיין ווי די נרות חנוכה - מוסיף והולך, און דורכדעם וועט איר ממשיך זיין די ג-טלעכע ליכטיקייט אויף זיך און אייערע בני-בית שיחיו געבענטשט צו ווערן בבני חיי ומזוני.

In connection with Chanukah, you are being sent the book "Beis Rebbe" (in Yiddish), which has just been published as a Chanukah memento. I hope that you will make much use of this book at your gatherings to become more familiar with the lives and work of our holy leaders — the "Fathers of Chabad," may their memory be blessed — to draw from their living wells and thereby better fulfill your duties as women and daughters of Chabad: to spread the light of Torah and mitzvos in the spirit of Chabad teachings not only within your own homes but throughout your entire environment.
Just as everything is by Divine Providence, so too is it significant that "Beis Rebbe" was published in this month of Chabad's redemption, especially during these days of Chanukah. We can learn a lesson from this. The difference between Chanukah candles and Shabbos candles — both of which women are obligated in — is that among other distinctions, Chanukah candles are lit after sunset when it is already night, whereas Shabbos candles are lit before sunset while it is still day. Additionally, on Erev Shabbos one lights the same number of candles as always, but with Chanukah candles the number increases each night.
This hints that one cannot be satisfied with illuminating only one's own home with the light of Torah and mitzvos and the inner light of Torah — which is Chassidus; one must also illuminate the "street," alluded to by the Chanukah candles (whose place is at the entrance to one's house from outside). Even more: when it is dark outside on the street, it is not enough just to light a candle; rather one must continually add new lights — increasing strength and expanding efforts more and more.
This follows the approach of Chabad Chassidus based on foundations of love for Hashem, love for Torah, and love for Israel. I hope that your work will also be like the Chanukah candles — increasing continually — and through this you will draw down G‑dly light upon yourselves and your families to be blessed with children, life, and sustenance.
Summary
The Rebbe encourages Nshei U'Bnos Chabad to use Beis Rebbe as inspiration for spreading ever-increasing spiritual light beyond their homes into their surroundings—especially during Chanukah—following Chassidus by adding in Ahavas Hashem, Torah, and Yisrael.
