לויט מאמר רז"ל איז: אכל בי עשרה שכינתא שריא, און רבינו הזקן איז מבאר דעם ענין (אין זיין אגרת הקדש סימן כ"ג) אז ווען עס קלייבען זיך צונויף צען מענשן אידען, איז דאס אליין בריינגט השראת השכינה. ובפרט ווען דער צוזאמענקומען זיך איז כדי צו פייערען די באפרייאונג פון נשיא ישראל רבינו הזקן בעל התניא והשולחן ערוך, וועלכער האט זיך מוסר נפש געווען אויף אהבת ישראל, אהבת התורה ואהבת השם, און מען נעמט אן דערביי גוטע החלטות בנוגע צו די אויבענדערמאנטע ענינים, איז דענסטמאל די השראת השכינה ביתר שאת וביתר עז, און במילא איז דאן אויך פראן א באזונדער הצלחה אין די החלטות טובות וואס מען נעמט אן, אז זיכער וועט מען פארטזעצען דעם גאנצען יאר, לויט די אנגענומענע החלטות - בשעת מעשה, און נאך מיט א תוספת אויף דעם.
דאס איז אויך דער רמז פון דעם אופן מצות נרות חנוכה, אז עס דארף זיין מעלין בקדש פון טאג צו טאג, און בפרט אין דעם חשך פון זמן הגלות.
דאס איז דאך איינער פון די חלוקים פון די נרות חנוכה צו די נרות פון בית המקדש, וואס אין בית המקדש איז די צאל ליכט אלע מאל גלייך, און בא די נרות חנוכה איז - מוסיף והולך, וואס מען קען עס ערקלערן דערמיט וואס חנוכה ליכטלעך צינדט מען אן משתשקע החמה, נאך זון אונטערגאנג, און די נרות אין בית המקדש האט מען אנגעצונדען א לאנגע צייט פאר שקיעת החמה.
און דאס איז פאר אונז א מוסר השכל, אז ווען דער ארום איז ניט ליכטיג, קען מען זיך ניט באנוגענען מיט דער מאס פעולות טובות היינט - אזוי ווי נעכטען, און מארגען אזוי ווי היינט, נאר מען מוז זיך אנשטריינגען יעדער טאג צוגעבען אויף דעם פריערדיקן טאג ומעלין בקדש, און מיט דער געהעריגער ענערגיע און אנשטריינגונג פארווירקליכט מען דאס, און עס גייט בהצלחה.
בברכת טוב גשמי ורוחני לכל אחד ואחד מהמתועדים - הם ביתם וזרעם שיחיו.

To Anash who gathered at the seudah of the Day of Redemption—our redemption and the redemption of our souls—Yud Tes Kislev at the Nusach Ari Beis Midrash, Pine Avenue, Montreal. May they live. Shalom u'Vrachah!
With pleasure I received the news about your hisvaadus-farbrengen on the luminous day of Yud Tes Kislev.
According to our Sages: "Every gathering of ten, the Shechinah rests." The Alter Rebbe explains (in his Iggeres HaKodesh ch. 23) that when ten Jews gather together, this alone brings about the resting of the Shechinah. Especially when this gathering is to celebrate the liberation of the Nasi Yisrael—the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch—who devoted himself with mesirus nefesh for Ahavas Yisrael, love of Torah, and love of Hashem; and when one accepts good resolutions regarding these aforementioned matters—then the Shechinah rests with even greater strength and intensity.
Consequently, there is also a special success in these good resolutions that are accepted—that surely one will continue throughout the entire year according to these resolutions made at that time—and even add to them.
This is also hinted at in how we fulfill the mitzvah of Chanukah candles: it must be "increasing in holiness" from day to day—especially in the darkness of exile. This is one difference between Chanukah lights and those of the Beis HaMikdash: in the Beis HaMikdash, the number of lights was always equal; but with Chanukah candles we increase each night. This can be explained by noting that Chanukah lights are kindled after sunset—after sundown—while those in the Beis HaMikdash were lit long before sunset.
This teaches us a lesson: when one's surroundings are not bright, one cannot be satisfied with yesterday's measure of good deeds—today as yesterday and tomorrow as today—but must strive each day to add over what was done previously—increasing in holiness. With proper energy and effort this is accomplished successfully.
With blessings for material and spiritual goodness to each participant—their households and descendants as well.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that gathering together for holy purposes brings increased Divine presence and success in resolutions. Like Chanukah lights that increase daily even amidst darkness, we must continually add in holiness and good deeds with renewed energy every day.
