Shalom u'Vrachah!

Members of the Vaad of Kfar Chabad, founded by the holy memory of our teacher and Rebbe, leader of our generation, in our holy land may it be rebuilt and established by our righteous Moshiach—may Hashem be with them—may they live. Shalom u'Vrachah!

Your letter from the tenth of Menachem Av has just been received, in which you write that you were elected as members of the village Vaad and conclude with a request for a blessing, etc.

At an auspicious time you will be remembered at the resting place of our teacher and Rebbe, together with all the residents of Kfar Chabad—from young to old, children and women—may they live—for the fulfillment of their heart's desires for good in all matters about which you write and in all matters concerning Kfar Chabad in general and in particular. May it be G‑d's will that as you have written, you will merit to share good news from time to time regarding all the above, in a manner that increases continuously.

It is known what our teacher and Rebbe said regarding blessing: that the usual expression connected with this is "showers of blessing." This means that blessing in general is like rain falling on the earth to make it give birth and grow; but first there must be plowing and sowing, and after the rain there must also be care etc.—all this is a vessel for the effect of rain and blessing dependent on it—and sometimes even more so. The analogy is clear.

May Hashem grant that also here the blessing of our teacher and Rebbe will rest—that each one of them, as well as every resident of the village—man or woman—will do all that depends on them for the benefit of the village: its foundation and development both materially and spiritually together; even to striving with energy as our Sages expressed: "You have toiled," so that also the promise "and you will find" will be fulfilled—success beyond measure up to finding itself. And in this month—Menachem Av—which we were promised would be transformed entirely into joy and gladness—may success begin in all these matters, ever increasing in holiness; especially in Eretz HaKodesh (the Holy Land), particularly at this point from which Kfar Chabad spreads forth its wellsprings outward—in both material and spiritual matters—and may you succeed in all these things with joy and gladness of heart; bringing hearts together among all residents of the village with unity of forces and cooperative partnership. And we were promised: "Bless us our Father (for) we are all as one."

With blessings for success in all these matters and for good news in everything.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that communal blessings require preparation, unity, effort, and ongoing cooperation. When everyone works together with joy for both material and spiritual growth, G‑d's blessings flow abundantly upon them.
