הנני לאשר קבלת המברק בנוגע למקום האסיפה של עסקני רבני אירופה. ומובן שאשתדל בזה, נוסף על הנעשה בעבר.
על פי הידיעות שקבלתי כאן, שחקרתי עוה"פ אחרי קבלת המברק, הכינוס הוא בלי השתתפות רבני ארצות הברית, ורק - מרבני אירופה -, זאת אומרת, שההשתדלות בזה צריכה להיות אצל יוזמי הכינוס (והמועמדים להשתתף בה - שכל אלה נמצאים באירופה), ובעיקר הרב ברוידי שי' שביקר באה"ק ת"ו וכפי הידיעות כאן - כהדר"ג וגם אחרים לקחו דברים עמו בזה. - שמועות אי ברורות כאן בנוגע לפרטי שקו"ט זו והתוצאות - ויש לקוות לתועלת באם יודיעו כ"ז ע"י עו"ר בפרטיות הדרושה.
עלי להוסיף, שלדעתי אני - איזו אסיפה שלא תהי', אפילו קטנה ביותר, בעיר שחשבו לכתחילה, באם יהיו בה אנשים הבאים מעיר אחרת, עלולה להביא היזק רב, ולא רק מצד פעולתה על המצב באה"ק ת"ו, אלא גם בארצה"ב ושאר מקומות.
ומענין לענין באותו ענין, עלי להוסיף, מיוסד על עמדת גדולי ישראל בדור שלפנינו, שלדעתי ברורה - כל אסיפה שיש לה אופי של כינוס עולמי מרבני ומנהיגי ישראל, באיזה מקום שלא תהי', כרוכה בסכנה לדת ותומ"צ בתוככי עמנו בנ"י בכל מקום שהם; סכנה רצינית על אתר, וסכנה גדולה פי כמה בהאסיפה שתבוא אחרי' (ובהזמן שבין אסיפה לאסיפה - עת שלטון המזכיר וכו'). וכל גדולי ישראל בדור שלפנינו התנגדו לאסיפות כאלו, עד שאפילו אסיפות שנתקיימו במדינות מסוימות על פי גזירות המלכות, כמו שהי' ברוסי' שנמצא שם אז רוב מנין ורוב בנין של אחב"י האשכנזים, הביטו על זה כעל גזירה קשה. ובודאי לכהדר"ג שליט"א אין צורך באריכות.
ויהי רצון שיגדור הוי' פרצות עמו ישראל בכל מקום שהם, וימים אלו שנצטוינו להרבות בהם בשמחה - יהיו כימים ההם שליהודים היתה אורה ושמחה וששון ויקר, אורה זו תורה וכו', כן תהי' לנו.

I hereby acknowledge receipt of your telegram regarding the location of the assembly of European rabbinic leaders. It is understood that I will make efforts in this matter, in addition to what has already been done in the past.
According to the information I have received here—after further inquiry following your telegram—the gathering is without participation from American rabbis and only includes European rabbis. This means that efforts should be directed toward the organizers of the gathering (and those expected to participate—all of whom are in Europe), especially Rabbi Broide shli"a who visited Eretz HaKodesh Tavo U'Meshubach (the Holy Land may it be built and praised), and according to reports here—as well as others—discussed this matter with him. There are unclear rumors here regarding the details of this discussion and its outcomes—it would be beneficial if all this could be reported by trusted individuals with the necessary detail.
I must add that in my opinion—any assembly whatsoever, even a very small one, in the city originally considered, if it includes people coming from another city, could cause great harm—not only regarding its effect on the situation in Eretz HaKodesh Tavo U'Meshubach but also in America and other places.
On a related note, based on the position of Torah giants of our generation, my clear opinion is that any assembly with a global character of rabbis and Jewish leaders—wherever it may take place—involves danger to religion and Torah observance among our people everywhere; a serious danger at the site itself and an even greater danger at subsequent gatherings (and during the period between assemblies—the time when secretaries rule etc.). All Torah giants of our generation opposed such assemblies—even those held under government decree in certain countries, as was the case in Russia where most Ashkenazi Jews then lived—they viewed these as severe decrees. Certainly for your honor there is no need for lengthy explanation.
May it be G‑d's will that He repair breaches among His people Israel wherever they are found. May these days—which we are commanded to increase in joy—be like those days when "the Jews had light and gladness and joy and honor" (Esther 8:16), "light" meaning Torah etc., so may it be for us.
