פון וואך און איז געהייליגט צו ג-ט, אזוי איז שמיטה - דער זיבעטער יאר - אויסגעטיילט פון אלע איבעריגע יארן און איז געהייליגט צו ג-ט;

קען ער דאך מיינען, אז אין אנדערע צייטן - אין שטוב, אין שטוביגע זאכן, אין גאס און אין געשעפט - איז ניט אזוי וויכטיג צו אונטערשטרייכן דעם לה' ;
* * *

B"H, Sunday of the week of "VeShavsah HaAretz Shabbos LaHashem," 5726.
Brooklyn, NY.
Tzav der elfeter yearly convention fun Nshei U'Bnos Chabad hash-em aleihen techayenah.
Shalom u'Vrachah!
The leitmotif of this year's convention is Shabbos, and the theme is especially suited to this Shemitah year. The convention also takes place during Parshas Behar, which begins with the topic of Shemitah and unites the concept of Shemitah with Shabbos, as the Torah says: "U'Vashanah HaShevi'is... Shabbos LaHashem" (In the seventh year there shall be a Shabbos for G‑d), and as our Sages note: "L'Shem Hashem k'shem shene'emar b'Shabbos Bereishis" (for the sake of G‑d just as it is said regarding the Shabbos of Creation). This means: just as Shabbos—the seventh day—is set apart from all other days of the week and sanctified to G‑d, so too is Shemitah—the seventh year—set apart from all other years and sanctified to G‑d. And just as Shabbos testifies that the Aibershter is the Creator of the world, Who created it in six days and rested on the seventh day—Shabbos Kodesh—and this repeats every week because creation is ongoing, as explained in many places and especially in Chassidus—so too Shemitah is set apart from all years and sanctified as testimony that the Aibershter is the Master of the world.
In daily life this means: In a Jew's personal life there are times when spiritual living is explicit and prominent—when one lives in shul or beis midrash, in yeshivah or educational institutions—a life permeated with Torah and fear of Heaven—a "Shabbos LaHashem." One might think that at other times—in one's home, in domestic matters, on the street or in business—it is not so important to emphasize "LaHashem." Similarly—not working the fields or letting the land rest during Shemitah seems like a practical way for making land more fertile so it will yield better produce. But Torah teaches that this rest must be only "LaHashem"—for G‑d's sake. The year of Shemitah reminds us—like Shabbos Bereishis—that for a Jew all details and events in daily life—even "weekday" or "earthly" matters like eating, drinking, or earning a livelihood—must be "LaHashem": eating for G‑d's sake, drinking for G‑d's sake, working and doing business—for G‑d's sake; every single detail of a Jew's daily life must be permeated with holiness and light connecting him to Hashem Yisborach.
Such a way of living depends—as discussed many times—to a great extent on Jewish women and daughters: those who already run Jewish homes as akeres habayis—the mother and grandmother; and those preparing for this most important role—the Jewish daughters. May Hashem grant success to your multifaceted activities to strengthen Judaism—Torat Hashem u'Mitzvos Hashem permeated and illuminated by Chassidus—in both your immediate family circles and broader surroundings. May you merit to see fulfilled the Divine blessing from this week's parsha: "Vetzivisi es birchasi lachem" (I will command My blessing upon you), that you and all yours should be blessed with Hashem's blessing in both supernatural ways and all so-called natural events and needs—from His full, open, holy, and broad hand.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that just as Shabbos and Shemitah are dedicated to G‑dliness beyond their practical aspects, so too every moment—even mundane activities—should be infused with holiness. Jewish women have a unique power to bring this sanctity into their families and communities.
