ראי' על זה מדברי המכילתא.. אמנם בהשיחה די"ג תמוז השתא נתבאר ג"כ בענין הנ"ל בשם הראגאטשאווער והובא ג"כ המכילתא ונתבאר אשר אם לא הי' לימוד מהפסוק היינו חושבים שהוא גדר נקודה ועל זה מגלה לנו הפסוק שהוא גדר מצורף.

This letter is addressed to HaRav Mordechai Mentlik and was written in response to his question dated Vav Menachem Av 5719: In the Simchat Torah 5718 sichah... all the aspects of Shabbat, including the additions to Shabbat, are considered as one single point... There is proof for this from the words of the Mechilta...
However, in the sichah of Yud-Gimmel Tammuz this year, it was also explained regarding this matter in the name of the Rogatchover, and the Mechilta was also cited. It was clarified that if not for the teaching from the verse, we would have thought it is defined as a single point; but the verse reveals to us that it is a composite concept. See also above in volume II, Igros Kodesh letters 175 and 183, and at length in Likkutei Sichos vol. VIII p. 50 and onward.
Summary
The Rebbe clarifies that while Shabbat might be viewed as a singular point, Torah sources reveal its broader, composite nature. This teaches us to look deeper into mitzvah definitions and seek understanding from both tradition and scriptural revelation.
