במענה למכתבו מכ"א טבת, בו כותב אשר כמה מחבריו קנו שטחים וכו' ושואל אם גם הוא יעשה כזה.
והנה אם התנאים שוים לפ"ע ונכונה הידיעה שכמה מחבריו עשו כזה, נכון שגם הוא יעשה כזה, אבל באופן שלא ישקיע בזה כל כספו, המזומן, ובאם אין האמצעים המזומנים מספיקים להנ"ל הרי ילוה איזה סכום להשלים אבל לא ישאיר קופתו ריקם ח"ו.
לפלא שזה מזמן רב שאין כותב כלל בהנוגע לענינים הכללים וביחוד בנקודה התיכונה הפצת המעינות ובפרט שהרי על שכמו הי' הענין סידור אמירת דא"ח בבתי הכנסיות וכו' ואפשר ימלא עד"ז בהזדמנות הקרובה.

In response to your letter from the 21st of Teves, in which you write that several of your friends have purchased plots of land, etc., and you ask if you should do the same.
If the conditions are equal as described and it is indeed true that several of your friends have done so, it is appropriate for you to do likewise. However, you should not invest all your available cash in this; if your available funds are insufficient for the above, you may borrow some amount to complete the purchase but should not leave your account empty, G‑d forbid.
It is surprising that for a long time you have not written at all regarding communal matters—especially about the central point: spreading the wellsprings (of Chassidus). In particular, since arranging the recitation of chassidic discourses in synagogues was your responsibility, perhaps you will fulfill this again at the next opportunity.
