Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 19th of Menachem Av, in which you write regarding your aunt, may she live. As you describe her condition, it is reasonable to say that her heart is in order and the discomfort stems from changes typical at this age (reduction or cessation of menstruation, etc.). It is worthwhile to mention or ask the doctor she visits about this. If this is indeed the case, there are simple special treatments that greatly ease the situation. Most importantly, knowing the cause of her discomfort will calm her spirit, which in itself is significant.

At an auspicious time, she and her daughter will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe—may his merit protect us—according to what you wrote.

She surely knows of the good custom among Jewish women to give charity before lighting candles every Friday and festival eve; at least from now on she should do so.

With blessings for a good inscription and sealing for the new year,

On behalf of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe shlita,
Mazkir

Summary

The Rebbe advises combining medical consultation with spiritual practices such as giving charity before candle lighting. Understanding one's health condition can bring peace of mind, and prayer at a tzaddik's resting place is encouraged for blessing and healing.
