On Attaining Peace of Mind

The Rebbe explains that peace of mind depends on the strength of one's trust in G-d, especially as taught by the Baal Shem Tov regarding Divine Providence. He recommends studying the Gate of Trust in Chovot HaLevavot multiple times for guidance.

Shalom u'Vrachah!

... In your question about what is peace of mind, it is unclear what your doubt is in this matter. If your intention is by what means to attain it, generally this depends on the measure and strength of trust (bitachon), and particularly according to the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov regarding Divine Providence. It is appropriate that you study two or three times the Gate of Trust in the book Chovot HaLevavot.

As you requested, this letter is being sent urgently.

With blessings for good news,

In the name of the Rebbe shlita,

The secretary

It is surprising how brief you were in describing the farbrengen for the Day of Redemption in Kfar Chabad. May it be His will that you fill this in your next letter.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that true peace of mind comes from strengthening one's trust in G‑d and internalizing Divine Providence as taught by the Baal Shem Tov. Studying foundational texts on trust helps cultivate this inner calm.
