נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מבשר טוב מחזרתו לאה"ק ת"ו ולביתו ירושלים עיה"ק ת"ו בסדר, ואקוה שלעת קבלת מכתבי זה הוטב עוד יותר מצב בריאותו, ויהי רצון שיחזור לאיתנו כפשוטו ולאיתנו כמשמעו כמבואר בד"ה משכיל לאיתן לרבנו הזקן בעל התניא והשו"ע (נדפס בקונטרס לימוד החסידות), ובשמחה ובטוב לבב יוסיף בפעולות בקדש בטהרת בנות ישראל המביאה לידי קדושה וכו' לידי חסידות וכו' וכהודעת רז"ל סוף מס' סוטה.
וכמוזכר ג"כ בהפגשנו כאן אודות הנחיצות הכי גדולה עבודת השם דוקא מתוך שמחה, ובדורנו דור יתום אפשר עוד יותר בשנים ובדורות שקדמו, ויעוין ג"כ ברמב"ם סוף הל' לולב ובתניא בכ"מ (כמצויין במפתח) ביאור הענין דכיתרון האור מתוך החשך ובשמחה היוצא מבית השבי' ובודאי לכת"ר אין צורך באריכות, ולא נצרכה אלא להעדפה גם בשמחה.
בברכה אשר כאו"א מאתנו יבשר אך טוב איש לרעהו.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
I was pleased to receive your letter bearing good news about your return to Eretz HaKodesh and to your home in Jerusalem in good order. I hope that by the time you receive this letter your health has improved even more. May it be Hashem's will that you return to full strength in the plain sense and also as explained in the discourse "Maskil LeEitan" by our master the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch (printed in the booklet on learning Chassidus). With joy and gladness of heart may you continue activities in holiness—especially regarding the purity of Jewish women which brings about holiness and then Chassidus, as our Sages say at the end of tractate Sotah.
As we also discussed when we met here: there is a great necessity for serving Hashem specifically with joy. In our generation—an orphaned generation—this is even more possible than in previous years and generations. See also Rambam at the end of Hilchos Lulav and Tanya in various places (as referenced in the index) for explanation of how light is increased from darkness and about joy that comes from captivity. Surely you do not need lengthy explanation; this is mentioned only to encourage even greater joy.
With a blessing that each one of us should share only good news with one another.
