... והנה מובן אשר בשידוכים צ"ל הסכמה המלאה ורצון הטוב של שני המשתדכים, אבל מאידך גיסא יש לבאר לבתו תחי' אשר בתקופתנו זו יש לדקדק על הענינים העיקרים, ז.א. יראת שמים תורה ומצות, אשר זה כל האדם, ולכן אין להוסיף תנאים על זה בענינים שאין נוגעים כל כך, כיון שלא תמיד יש למצוא הא והא, ועיקר וטפל דטפל מובן שהעיקר עיקר.
שנים מבני ישראל הנפגשים יחד, מובן שהתוצאות מזה צריכות להיות הוספה בעניני תורה ומצות, ולכן מנצל הנני הזדמנות זו לעוררו על דבר ההכרח הכי גדול בתקופתנו זו, לקבוע עתים ללימוד תורת החסידות, ובפרט כפי שכותב היחוס שלו, ולא להסתפק רק בשלו אלא להשפיע גם בסביבתו, להפיץ שם מעינות תורה זו, מובן שזהו נוסף על שלשת השיעורים השוים לכל נפש מתקנת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע בחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים. והם: א) אמירת שיעור תהלים חדשי - כפי שנחלק התהלים לימי החדש בכל יום אחר תפלת שחרית. ב) לימוד פרשה חומש עם פירוש רש"י מהסדרה של השבוע (ביום ראשון מהתחלת הסדרה עד פרשת שני, ביום שני מפרשת שני עד שלישי וכו'). ג) לימוד שיעור תניא בכל יום כפי שנחלק לימות השנה.

...It is understood that in shidduchim there must be full agreement and goodwill from both parties. However, it should be explained to your daughter, may she live, that in our times one must be particular about the main matters—namely fear of Heaven, Torah, and mitzvos—which are the essence of a person. Therefore, one should not add conditions regarding matters that are not so essential, since it is not always possible to find both together; what is primary and what is secondary is clear—the primary remains primary.
When two Jews meet together, it is understood that the outcome should be an increase in Torah and mitzvos. Therefore, I take this opportunity to urge you about the utmost necessity in our times to set fixed times for studying Chassidus—especially as your lineage indicates—and not to suffice with your own study but also to influence your surroundings by spreading the wellsprings of this Torah. This is in addition to the three daily study portions established by my revered father-in-law, the Previous Rebbe—Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya—as is well known.
They are: (a) Reciting the daily Tehillim portion as divided for each day of the month after Shacharis; (b) Studying the weekly Chumash portion with Rashi’s commentary—on Sunday from the beginning of the parsha until Sheini, on Monday from Sheini until Shelishi, etc.; (c) Studying a daily Tanya portion as divided throughout the year.
