ולפלא שאינו מזכיר כלל אודות ענין ליקוט מנהגי חב"ד האם מתעסק בזה או לא, והרי נקודה מיוחדת בזה מתאים למאמר המשנה לא המדרש עיקר אלא המעשה שכוונת הלקוטי מנהגים הוא דוקא בענינים של מעשה, ועוד זאת אשר הו"ל של ליקוט כזה בטח מעורר זכרונות אודות עוד ענינים. ובאם מאיזה סיבה שתהי' אי אפשר לו להתעסק בהאמור, בטח ג"כ יודיע בהקדם, ואונס רחמנא פטרי'.
בעת רצון אזכיר את כל אלה שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ובטח כשתהי' בזה בשו"ט ימהר להודיע ות"ח מראש.

We acknowledge receipt of your letter as per the dates listed below with their enclosures. It is surprising that you do not mention at all the matter of collecting Chabad customs—whether you are involved in this or not. There is a particular point here in line with the Mishnah's teaching: 'Not study but action is essential,' since the intent of collecting customs is specifically regarding matters of practice. Furthermore, publishing such a collection will surely evoke memories about additional matters.
If for any reason it is impossible for you to be involved as mentioned, certainly you will also notify promptly, for 'one who is compelled is exempt.'
At an auspicious time I will mention all those you write about at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, of blessed memory. Surely when there will be good news in this matter you will hasten to inform us, and thank you in advance.
