במענה על מכתביו מששי וכ"ב באייר, נעם לי לקרות בו אשר מדריך הוא כתתו לא רק בעניני לימודם אלא גם בעניני יראת שמים ועניני חסידות אשר באמת הא בהא תליא, וכמ"ש רבנו הזקן שהאהבה היא שרש לכל רמ"ח מצות עשה והיראה היא שרש לשס"ה לא תעשה (עיין היטב תניא ריש פרק ד') ובפרט כשנמצאים בארצנו הקדושה תבנה ותכונן על ידי משיח צדקנו במהרה בימינו, אשר עיני ה' אלקיך בה מראשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה, ומזה מובן גם כן אשר כל השתדלות ויגיעה בזה כדאיות הן, כיון אשר זה כל האדם כמ"ש את האלקים ירא ואת מצותיו שמור כי זה כל האדם ואפילו המקיים רק נפש אחת מישראל הרי זה כאילו קיים עולם מלא.
ומובן גם כן אשר בכדי להשפיע על הזולת אין מספיק להיות טופח בלבד כי אם טופח על מנת להטפיח, והנמשל מובן.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letters from Friday and the 22nd of Iyar, it pleased me to read that you are guiding your class not only in their studies but also in matters of Yirat Shamayim (awe of Heaven) and Chassidut. In truth, these are interdependent, as our master the Alter Rebbe writes that love is the root of all 248 positive commandments and awe is the root of the 365 prohibitions (see well Tanya, beginning of chapter 4). This is especially true when one is in our holy land—may it be rebuilt and established by our righteous Moshiach speedily in our days—about which it is written: 'the eyes of the L‑rd your G‑d are always upon it from the beginning of the year until year's end.' From this it is also understood that every effort and exertion in this area is worthwhile, since 'this is the whole person,' as it says: 'Fear G‑d and keep His commandments for this is the whole person.' Even one who sustains a single Jewish soul is considered as if he sustained an entire world.
It is also understood that to influence others it does not suffice to be merely saturated oneself; rather, one must be saturated with the ability to saturate others as well—and the analogy is clear.

Summary
The Rebbe teaches that true guidance involves nurturing both learning and spiritual growth. Especially in Eretz Yisrael, every effort to inspire others in Yirat Shamayim and Chassidut has immense value; one must strive not just to absorb holiness but also to share it with others.
