צו דער יערלעכער חגיגה, יום א' שמות, ה'תשי"ז, שיק איך מיין באגריסונג און ברכה צו אלע אנטיילנעמער אין דער יערלעכער תורה-פייערונג פון מרכז הישיבות "תומכי תמימים" ליובאוויטש אין אמעריקא.
פאררופנדיק זיך אויף דעם באקאנטן ווארט פון דעם אלטן רבי'ן בעל התניא והשלחן-ערוך, דער באגרינדער פון תורת חסידות חב"ד, אז "א איד דארף לעבן מיט דער צייט" - מיט דער צייט און מיט דעם גייסט פון דער סדרה פון דער וואך - וויל איך אין קורצן זיך אפשטעלן אויף דער ערשטער פרשה ואלה שמות בני ישראל, וואס דאס איז די תורה-צייט ווען די חגיגה קומט פאר.
אין דער דאזיקער ערשטער גלות-פרשה ווערט דערציילט ווי אזוי א הייפעלע אידן, זיבעציג נפשות, אין א פרעמד לאנד, צווישן א גרויסן און מעכטיקן פרעמדן פאלק אין מצרים, האט זיך גאר ניט פארלארן, גאר ניט נתפעל געווארן; די ערשטע אידן אין דעם ערשטן גלות האבן פארשטאנען, אז דער סוד פון זייער אנדערשקייט, אידענטיטעט און זעלבסטשטענדיקייט, וואס זיי האבן אפגעהיט שטרענג און אן-פשרות'דיק, און ווי חכמינו זכרונם לברכה דערקלערן, אז אין זכות פון דעם וואס זיי האבן ניט געענדערט זייערע נעמען און זייערע מנהגים (שלא שינו את שמם כו') זיינען זיי אויסגעלייזט געווארען פון גלות. ניט נאר האט דער דאזיקער אידישער באוואוסטזיין פארהיט זיי פון פרעה און די מצריים, נאר עס איז געווען כן ירבה וכן יפרוץ, זיי האבן זיך פארמערט אין צאל און זיינען געווארען שטארקער אין גייסט, ביז זיי האבן זוכה געווען צו דער גאולה און צו קבלת התורה, וואס האט ליכטיק געמאכט די גאנצע וועלט און פארפאלקאמט דעם תכלית פון וועלט-באשאף.
אין דער דאזיקער פרשה פון תורתנו הקדושה, תורת חיים, געפינט זיך די פונדאמענטאלע לערע פאר אלע אידן אין אלע צייטן און אין אלע דורות פון גלות, בפרט פאר אונזער דור, ווען דער גלות האט אנגענומען די שארפסטע פארמען פון ליידן און פארניכטונג ח"ו, פיזישע און גייסטיקע. אומעטום זיינען אידן א קליינע מינאריטעט ארומגערינגלט פון א פרעמדער און פיינטלעכער וועלט, א וועלט וואו די עלעמענטארסטע מענטשלעכע רעכט און מאראל איז פולשטענדיק אונטערגראבן, וואו לכיטיקייט איז פארטוישט מיט פינסטערניש און פינסטערניש מיט ליכטיקייט, א וועלט וואס לעבט אין שרעק פון אטאמישער זעלבסטפארניכטונג ר"ל.
אין דער דאזיקער צייט פון פינסטערן גלות מוזן מיר אידן געדיינקען די אנווייזונגען פון דער ג-טלעכער תורה, תורת חיים, אז בלויז דורך אונזער אנדערשקייט און גייסטיקער זעלבסטשטענדיקייט וואס שטיצט זיך אויף דער תורה און מצוות, בלויז דורך אן אומפשרות'דיקן תורה-טרייען חינוך, קענען מיר פארזיכערן דעם קיום פון אונזער פאלק, סיי גייסטיק סיי פיזיש.
דערפאר איז דער קיום פון די ליובאוויטשער ישיבות אזא לעבנסוויכטיקער יסוד פון אידישן לעבן דא, ווארום אין די דאזיקע מוסדות, דורכגעדרונגען מיט דעם גייסט פון זייער גרינדער, כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, דער גייסט פון אומפשרות'דיקע תורה-אידישקייט, פון מסירות-נפש, פון אהבת ישראל אהבת התורה און אהבת השם, ווערן דערצויגן טויזנטע קינדער, כן ירבו. דא ווערן דערצויגן "תמימים - גאנצע אידן, אידן מיט אן אחריות געפיל פאר דעם צווייטן און פאר דער סביבה ארום. דעריבער מוז יעדער איינער אנערקענען אלס זיין פליכט צו זיך און צו זיין משפחה און כלל ישראל, צו שטיצן די ישיבות תומכי-תמימים מיט א ברייטער האנט און צו העלפן זייער ווייטערדיקער אנטוויקלונג.
ובזכות זה וועט מקוים ווערן, בא יעדן בפרט און בא אלע אידן בכלל, כן ירבה וכן יפרוץ, און מיר וועלן זוכה זיין צו דער גאולה שלימה על יד איש בן פרצי בחסד וברחמים במהרה בימינו.

To all participants in the annual United States celebration of the Central Yeshivos "Tomchei Temimim" Lubavitch — may Hashem be upon you for life.
Shalom u'Vrachah!
For the annual celebration on Sunday of Parshas Shemos, 5717, I send my greetings and blessings to all participants in this yearly Torah event of the Central Yeshivos "Tomchei Temimim" Lubavitch in America.
Referring to the well-known saying of the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch and founder of Chabad Chassidus, that "a Jew must live with the times"—with the times and spirit of the weekly Torah portion—I wish to briefly focus on the first parsha: Ve'eleh Shemos Bnei Yisrael ("These are the names of the children of Israel"), which is the Torah time when this celebration takes place.
In this first exile parsha it is told how a small group of Jews—seventy souls—in a foreign land among a great and powerful foreign nation in Egypt did not lose themselves or become affected; these first Jews in that first exile understood that their secret to being different, their identity and independence—which they guarded strictly and uncompromisingly—and as our Sages explain, because they did not change their names or customs (shelo shinu et shemam etc.), they were redeemed from exile.
This Jewish awareness not only protected them from Pharaoh and Egypt but also led to "ken yirbeh ve'chen yifrotz" ("so they multiplied and increased"), growing in number and becoming stronger in spirit until they merited redemption and receiving the Torah—which illuminated the entire world and fulfilled creation's ultimate purpose.
In this parsha from our holy Torah—a Torah of life—is found a fundamental lesson for all Jews at all times and in all generations of exile, especially for our generation when exile has taken on its sharpest forms of suffering and destruction G‑d forbid—both physical and spiritual.
Everywhere Jews are a small minority surrounded by a foreign and hostile world—a world where even basic human rights and morality are completely undermined; where light is confused with darkness and darkness with light; a world living in fear of atomic self-destruction G‑d forbid.
In this time of dark exile we Jews must remember the instructions from our Divine Torah—a Torah of life—that only through our distinctiveness and spiritual independence based on Torah and mitzvos, only through uncompromising Torah-true education can we ensure our people's survival—both spiritually and physically.
This is why supporting Lubavitcher yeshivos is such a vital foundation for Jewish life here. In these institutions—permeated with the spirit of their founder, my revered father-in-law, Admor zatzal—the spirit of uncompromising Torah Judaism, self-sacrifice, Ahavas Yisrael (love for fellow Jews), love for Torah, love for Hashem—thousands of children are raised. May they multiply!
Here are raised "Temimim"—complete Jews—Jews with a sense of responsibility toward others and their surroundings. Therefore everyone must recognize it as their duty—to themselves, their family, and all Israel—to support Tomchei Temimim yeshivos generously and help their continued development.
Through this merit it will be fulfilled—for each individual specifically and all Jews collectively—ken yirbeh ve'chen yifrotz (so they multiply and increase), and we will merit complete redemption through Ish ben Partzi with kindness and mercy speedily in our days.

The Rebbe teaches that unwavering commitment to Jewish identity through Torah education ensures both spiritual strength and communal survival. Supporting institutions like Tomchei Temimim is essential for nurturing future generations who will bring about redemption.
