במענה על מכתבה מח' סיון... ובשאלתה בהנוגע למצב בריאותה וחוות דעת הרופאים ע"ד הסרת השקדים, נוהגים בענינים כאלו לסמוך על הוראות שני רופאים מומחים במקצוע זה ואז מתקיימת הודעת רז"ל התורה נתנה רשות לרופא לרפאות שהיא תורת חיים גם כפשוטו, חיים בעולם הזה.
בתמי' מהולה בצער קראתי במכתבה על דבר תועלת עבודתה בשטח החינוך הכשר, אשר מעין יאוש נודף מבין השיטים, ומשתמש אני גם בביטוי תמי', כי כל המתבונן בדברי ימי עם ישראל, ובפרט בשנים הכי אחרונות, אפילו התבוננות קלה נוכח לדעת כי פעולות שלכאורה לפי ראות עיני בשר לא הי' להן עתיד, ובפרט בהשוות אותן לפעולות אחרות, באה המציאות והוכיחה אשר דוקא הן הצליחו, ויסוד ההצלחה הי' זה שפעלו בהן לשמה באמיתיות ובאופן היוצא מן הלב, ובתקופתנו זו כל אחד ואחת מאתנו המהלך ע"פ אדמות, מופת חי הוא להשגחה פרטית של בורא העולם בעניני עולם הזה, וכבר מלתי אמורה וביותר ביאור במקום אחר, אשר דברי המורה הגדול הוא הרמב"ם, אשר כל משך חיי האדם הוא סדר דבכל דרכיך דעהו, וכמו שהאריך בזה בהלכות דיעות פרק ג' ועוד, מביאים גם כן את האדם המתבונן ללכת בדרכים אלו באופן זה מתוך שמחה, ואם לפעמים נדמה לו בעריכת החשבון שאין לזה עתיד ושאין מקום להצלחה וכיו"ב ועל ידי זה נחלש בפעולות בכיון האמור, ברור הדבר שזהו מתחבולות היצר הנקרא כסיל.
תקותי ששורותי אלה המעטות בכמות תספיקנה שתתבונן בהאמור על דעת עצמה ע"מ להוסיף מרץ בפעולות בשטח היהדות בכלל ובשטח חינוך הכשר ביחוד מתוך שמחה...

In response to your letter from the month of Sivan... Regarding your question about your health and the doctors' opinion concerning the removal of your tonsils: in such matters, it is customary to rely on the instructions of two expert doctors in this field. Then the statement of our Sages is fulfilled: "The Torah has given permission to the doctor to heal," which is a Torah of life—even literally, life in this world.
With innocent wonder mixed with pain I read in your letter about the benefit of your work in the field of kosher education, from which a sense of despair seems to emerge between the lines. I use the term 'innocent' because anyone who contemplates Jewish history—especially in recent years—even with minimal reflection will realize that actions which, according to human eyes, appeared to have no future (especially compared to other actions), reality proved that specifically those succeeded. The foundation of their success was that they were done sincerely for their own sake and from the heart.
In our times, every one of us walking on this earth is a living example of Divine Providence by the Creator over worldly matters. As I have already said—and explained more elsewhere—the words of our great teacher, Rambam, are that all one's life follows the order of "Bechol Derachecha Da'eihu" (In all your ways know Him), as he elaborates at length in Hilchot De'ot chapter 3 and elsewhere. This brings a thoughtful person to follow these paths with joy. If sometimes it seems when making an accounting that there is no future or no place for success and similar thoughts—and this weakens one's activities in this direction—it is clear that this comes from the schemes of the yetzer called 'fool.'
I hope that these few lines will suffice for you to reflect on what was said on your own initiative so as to increase energy in activities within Judaism generally and especially in kosher education—with joy...
