במענה על מכתבם מי"ג אייר - ובטח נתקבל מכתבי מענה על מכ' הקודמים...
במ"ש אודות מספר התלמידים וכו' כבר פירשתי שיחתי בארוכה במכתבי הנ"ל. ואחזור רק על הנקודה - שדעתי ברורה שהיכולת (מאיזה טעמים שיהי') למעט מספר התלמידים - ניתנה עי"ז שזה כמה שנים שההנהלה "מצמצמת" בקבלת תלמידים. אלא שכיון שברחמיו הרבים ניתן מהשי"ת ענין התשובה, גם בהנ"ל מועלת תשובה, אלא שצריכה להיות תשובה כפי הוראת תורתנו, שהנקודה בזה: הי' רגיל לקרות דף אחד יקרא ב' דפים כו', ובענינם הוא בהנוגע להגדלת כמות התלמידים ומובן שגם איכות התלמידים.

במש"כ בס"א דמכ' כ"ז ניסן - הרי כ"פ עוררתי שצ"ל משרתים בקודש מחב"ד.
ומובן שצריך להכינם גם בהיותם בכותלי תו"ת, אבל פשוט שעל פי מש"כ ע"ד הדו"ד שהי' בזה - צריך להעשות באופן שלא יוכל להתפרש שהם יוצאים נגד כל הישיבות וכו'.
במש"כ בהפר"כ שקו"ט ע"ד נחיצות שיפור לימוד הנגלה ואם זהו סותר ללימוד דא"ח וכו' - נפלאתי ונצטערתי גם על הספק בזה, כי פשוט שצריך ומוכרח להעלות ולשכלל לימוד הנגלה (ובמילא מוכרח גם ר"י וכו'), ואין זה סותר ח"ו ללימוד דא"ח, לעבודת התפלה וכו'. - ולפשיטות כ"ז מסתפק הנני בשורות אלו.
בשאלתם על מי לשלם ההוצאות הקשורות עם ההלואה שקבלו - פשיטא שאינו נוגע מי הוא הערב. ועל הלוה לשלם גם הנ"ל, כמו שמשלם ההלואה עצמה.

Regarding what you wrote about the number of students, etc., I have already explained my view at length in my aforementioned letter. I will only repeat the main point—that my opinion is clear that the ability (for whatever reason) to reduce the number of students was given because for several years now the administration has been "restricting" admissions. However, since in His abundant mercy Hashem granted us the concept of teshuvah (repentance), teshuvah is effective even in this matter. But it must be teshuvah as our Torah instructs: if one was accustomed to reading one page, he should now read two pages, etc. In your case, this means increasing both the quantity and quality of students.

Your letters from the 5th and 7th of Iyar were received. What are the results following up on the visits you mentioned in your letter from the 4th of Adar (the representatives from America) and the 8th of Nissan (Mr. Regev)? Has the telephone issue at the Chabad school been resolved?
Regarding what you wrote in section one of your letter from the 27th of Nissan—I have repeatedly emphasized that there should be Chabad servants in holiness. It is understood that they must be prepared even while still within Tomchei Temimim's walls, but obviously based on what was written about previous discussions on this matter—it must be done in a way that cannot be interpreted as opposing all other yeshivas, etc.
Regarding what you wrote in section two about whether improving Nigleh study contradicts learning Chassidus—I am surprised and saddened even by this doubt! It is obvious that it is necessary and essential to enhance and perfect Nigleh study (and therefore also Rosh Yeshiva etc.), and this does not contradict—G‑d forbid—the study of Chassidus or prayer service, etc. That such a question arises is itself surprising.
In your question about who should pay expenses related to a loan you took—it is obvious that it does not matter who is the guarantor; it is upon the borrower to pay these expenses just as he pays back the loan itself.
